Hello everybody

I´ve a Arduino 2560 running a mobiflight program that managed all the leds, buttons that I need for the autopilot and the lights. I´ve others 3 arduinos that at running others programs, but programmed with LINK2FS. Now, with the new FS2020 I want to make using 2 LCD 16x2 and 1 encoder, the program to see the heading, altittude, etc, etc. My question is: it´s possibble running 2 mobiflights in the same PC running each one differents programs? Of course, each one running in a different arduino...

Thanks a lot

Hi Juliesta,

MobiFlight can only run in one instance per pc. But you can use more than 64 MobiFlight modules per instance/pc.
Connect a new mega to your pc and you should see in the MENU -> EXTRAS -> SETTINGS -> Mobiflight Modules this new board as normal arduino mega in the list. Upload the firmware to this board an you habe a new MF-module with 68 new pins that can be controlled by MF. If these pins are occupied, take the next empty mega and do the same again. That's it.

Thank you Stephan

Finally, after a lot of hours trying and reading here the answer to the questions and seeing a lot of videos de guys in youtube (also yours), I got it.

Really I do not understand well, how to manage the inputs or outputs with several arduinos. I could´nt understand well how I must do it, but al last. I did it.

I´m thinking to make a tutorial with all the pass to help other people how to do it. Before I must to make a RADIO & AUTOPILOT with Mobiflight . I was always thinking that its a nice and very clever piece of SW that I know from several years ago, but I did a radio+autopilot+lights+Flaps+star engines+gear, etc with LINK2Fs. It was a hard and long work of programation but very interesting for me.

Please, I want to make you a little suggestion:

Will be possible to use a display LCD with 4 lines and change your LCD to work with EIGHT values in the 4 lines? I´m testing a LCD 20x4 and as I can only use SIX and the last line of the LCD only can use it por TEXT, no for values.

Like this:
ACTIVE STBY
COM1: xxx.xx xxx.xx
NAV1: xxx.xx xxx.xx
NAV2: xxx.xx xxx.xx

The 1st line as only can use SIS values only cam to use it for text.

Finally, I wrote several questions here about Mobiflight and FS2020 with FSUIPC and now I´ve all working without problem Thanks you very much about the help received from you and the other people.

Best regards my friend,

MObiflight is great and I am very happy with it. It´s very easy touse it, except when you work with several arduinos that I thing it´s a little dark now.

Hi Julesta,

all in all you can use 7 values in an 20x4 Display at the same time. The six placeholders you define yourself and the "$" from the used offset of the same config.
For the future it is planned (not known when) to use more than six placeholders...

Hi

As i told in a other topic....
I also vote for a increase of Placehodlers from 6 to 8 to solve this situation..... Whatever 99% of Users will not need this.

So if you need this pretty fast and you can not wait for that hotfix..... Then you can "combine" 2 Vaues to one Varibale with a additional config line and a little formula.
Good Luck !

Thank you Pizman...

The problem is that I don´t know now how to do this. But I can wait. It´s not vital for me. I I´m waiting several displays of 8x7 and now I´m only make test learnig. And I´ve finish to mix several arduinos and move the radios with an encoder an one Button swap frecuencies.

I´m very happy with MOBIFLIGHT, a great program. Always I´m writing the same, because it´s true.:)

Thanks Stephan

I can use only SIX, not seven values...?? as I wrote in my message, but I can wait until the 8 will arrive.

I know that use the LCD display 20x4 it´s not usual. I´ve several Lcd 16x2, and I will use now the display 8x7.

Best regards!

Hello, my friend Pizman

As you wrote... "So if you need this pretty fast and you can not wait for that hotfix..... Then you can "combine" 2 Vaues to one Varibale with a additional config line and a little formula." I was thinking about it and: could you explain me how to do this? Please. I know enought for learning your help and it´will be very appreciated for my proyect now.

I know that I´m asking a lot of help, but this, I don not know how to do it and I want learn.

Other thing:

I´m trying use Modules 7219 8x7 but finally I forget it because I´ve a lot of problems. 1 sometimes Ok. Light, not light. 2 one with light, other not, 3 it´s imposible to make work .the third I´ve well connected in cascade and to the arduino. Also programmed in MB but I bought 5 modules and I tried hundred of combinations and it´s imposible. I´m bored. I thinked that the arduino2560 was wrong but with other arduino the same. Do you have any idea?. At last, I disconect all and started again only with LCD thats ara working ok, only 2 at the moment.

Best regards.

Hi Julesta,

to make the 3rd and the following boards in the chain work, replace the diode D1 with a wire bridge or connect every board direct to +5V.

Background is an development error on the 7-segment board. D1 is to protect the MAX7219 against reverse polarity but so a voltage of 0,7V drops over this diode. So the 1st board runs with 4.3V, the 2nd with 3.6V and the 3rd only with 2.9V which is to low to operate. If you connect every board directly to 5V all boards were running with 4.3V but they will work ok.

8 values? Not that I know. 7 is at the moment the maximum.
The first 6 you generate by configs in reading the needed offsets. These configs can be used in a 7th config as placeholders (bottom section of the config wizard). Here you can assign the characters you want to use for COM1 act etc i.e. §, %, &, /, !, =. These characters you insert in the display section in the shown screen. That's it.

For an example look here https://www.mobiflight.com/forum/topic/838.html and translate it with google translator.
