Hello,

I used the LCD today th first time. The first LCD running well with the adress of 0x27 all things running smooth under FSX (only test before switching to Xplane 11). But I got two more LCD s and there is no sign of working NO Mobirocks! or connection with Mobi. I thought to check the adress and voila 0x3F. I changed this but they are not working. Any Ideas beside reboot:blush: .
By the way the ic2 backpack with 0x27 have no jumpers to change the adress.
Thanks

Christian

Sorry, usually the I2C backpack does not have jumpers pins but they are pad's to solder wiht names A0, A1 and A2.
Show images that make clear where and how to do it:

A card I2C with address 0x27 (by default):

A card I2C with explanations of their pins:

Just solder and join the right pad's.

Thank you,

For the pictures. But I have backpacks with a default address of 0xF3 and they don't work. I checked address with the IC 2 scanner sketch. The backpacks I have with the default address 0x27 have no jumpers but work flawless. I like o use at least 2 displays for a radio with one Mega. Best case is to use 4. I like to use 1 16x2 for active Com/stby and 1 for Nav active/standby in one radio. Waiting for the videos / tutorials for inspiration:thumbup: . I tried it only with fsx so far but using in my Pit xplane 11 so I have to try this.

That should be no difference.
The "Problem" is a hardware fact.... Whatever you get the raw data from FSX or Xplane..... The Adress System is still managed same way.

********
I got the same Problem by the way ! The Displays i order via Amazon was PREmounted.... Means the IC2 Module was soldered already at the Display by manifactor.
My IC2 Modules got NO Jumper Contacts vissible on the Backside where the Brightness Encoder is set. MABY the jumbers are on the other side.... But i can´t reach or see it cause the module is fixed soldered. ( And there are no Sodler Points Throug Hole vissible, too).

*****
Result:
Still order Displays with a IC2 Module that allow us to set Jumper bridges ! Alternate still use multible Arduinos.

Maby somebody like to test this..... Please wire a 50cm or 100 cm 4 wire cable to the Display..... Does it work perfect ?
If yes and we have a higher limit for wire lenght then we can simply work with Ardionos of other elements... Still let the IC2 Pins (20/21 at Mega) empty on other Arduinos.
Extremly.... If This work we can use a Arduino of Overhead or MCP for the Radio Display.... Simply wire it with a long cable to the next possible free Arduino !
Good Luck !

Hello pizmann,

I had the problem, that I soldered the backpacks to the display and those are not functioning. My question is there a hardware related problem are there backpacks that I shouldn't buy and how to discriminate from the good one.

I will investigate further - my thoughts were that someone had described the he had problems with displays using the 0xF3 address.

Hi Christian.

I´m not informed about probelmatic Ic´s.... Basicly the 1 Liner 1x16 are problematic maby. It look like the Mobiflight Script not work correctly with a Split 2x8 Logic.
Other things are not reported..... With Adresses that "should" not give Problems.... All 128 (-16) possible adresses should work with the software.... If i´m right sebastian use a limit (maby 4 Displays per Board) but that need to be confirmed finaly.

To your Problem.
Maby your right and there is a problem with some IC backpacks.... But Maby you got simply a issue in soldering.... I buy a premade Board.... And i see the Solder is perfect made by a roboter..... If you solder it yourself get shure you work verry exact... Only one issue ( touching of 2 Solder Pins) can occure in a Error. Check if Backpack is 100% correckt mounted.
Good Luck !
