is it at all possible to use of smaller versions to accommodate them in the airbus fcu?

say 2 digit, 3 digits. I have seen some 4 digit cards from ebay, will they work or do all have to be the 8 digit cards?

cheers
Phil

Hi Phil,
You can use all digits from 1 to 8 while using the MAX7219-Chip. You only has to adapt your config in MobiFlight. You always have to hide the not available Digits.
The 8-Digit-Boards are the standard. If you only need 4 you can remove the other 4. Note: for the MAX the rightest is #1 and the left is #8.

Dear Phil

This was asked lots of time. Please use Search Engine here.... You find a lot of topics !

In short words....

The 4 Diggit Boards on ebay 99% NOT use Max7219 Chips..... Always get Shure its MAX7219 powerd if you buy a full tube . If you buy the Displays exclude the Controller get shure the Displays are "Common Cathode" Max7219 only work with THIS Displays.

For mounting.

If you got lots of space in your panel simply use a 8 Diggit Board and hide the not used Diggits behind the Panel so they are not visible. (like Stephan said)
If you get no space or need for example a exact 3 Diggti Display then buy a 8 Diggit Max Tube with REMOVEABLE Displays. ( Not the soldered ones)
Then Pull of the 2x4 Diggits and use your 3 Diggit Display . Simply wire this instead of the 4 Diggit original tube via the 11 Cables.
Sounds difficult but is realy easy if you do this 1-2 times.
And like Stephan Said. You can use all 8 Diggits.... you can Mount for example to one tube 2x3 and 1x2 Diggit Displays.

Again please search the board for more inforamtion !
Good Luck !

Hello there!
Finally i completed my overhead panel and i am movig to MCP.
My intention is to by 6 digit segment display that have 4 pins: gnd, vcc, dio and clock. There is no CS pin. Is it possible to connect such display over mobiflight? On overhead panel i use 8 digit segment and all works fine.

Thank you for your support

Hi Crvak,

with your 4-pin-solution are not possible to connect to MobiFlight.
MobiFlight only can drive LCDs (1, 2 or 4 lines/16,20 characters) or LED-Tubes based on the MAX7219-chip. These you can buy most with 8 digits but they work also with less (ie 4, 5 or 6 digits)

Thank you for the info. I will go with same segment displays as I use on overhead panel MAX7219.

BTW i tried to donate using donate button but there is an issue with Montenegro banks does not support PayPal. If there is another way to donate please let me know since I am very happy with the software.

Thank You
