Hi,
Thanks for great software! I have used the MAX7219 to drive LED displays, works great. I need the ability to drive 16 digits with a single chip. Do you know if Mobiflight will work with the MAX6954? I suspect that it will since it's SPI, and I have ordered some to find out. I was just wondering if anyone else had tried.

Hi buddym,

welcome to MobiFlight.

MobiFlight is current not able to drive the MAX6954 or any other chipdriver than MAX7219.
It is also unknown if and when other chips were implemented to drive 7-segment-digits.

BUT: you can drive up to 8 MAX7219 boards with 8x8=64 Digits in a Daisy Chain.
AND: you can connect up to 4 Daisy chained MAX7219 boads so you have the max of 256 7-segment digits with only 12 connection on the MEGA-board.

As Stephan said.... This kind of Max Chips are not supported at the moment....
AND There is no planing at the moment to add this in the next time.

Curent we are on final testing for LCD Display support. If everything workes like we planed the release will come in Summer 2017.

So....

With LCD Displays the showing of letters and numbers is possible..... BUT: I Always think about 16 Segment Displays, too. For lots of Aircrafts this is needed/ better then LCD.
MABY Sebastian find time to check this MAx6954 System and MABY he implement this in the future !

Maby interesting in the future.... Have a look if you like. Sounds interesting and the system looks simular like 7 segments... Additional theres a good 128 LED Controlling plattform.
Question is.... Does exist a library for that already ?
