When ALT Hold is activated then I can't adjust VS but when ALT Hold is deactivated then I can adjust VS

I have VS button that is set on VS Hold when pressed the VS encoder should allow me to change VS. Or do I have this wrong.

This make no sense to me....

ALT Hold and VS are two different Pitch modes.... So why would you use them same time ???
If you are e.g. on 20.000 ft and you like to "hold" this Altitude, then you use ALT HOLD.
If you like to descent or climb.... e.g. from 20.000 ft down to 10.000 then then you define with the ALT Encoder the new "target Altitude" and then you activate the VS Mode.
THEN you can select the needed Rate with the VS Encoder.

After reach the new Target Altitude normaly the Mode change back ALT Hold !

I think your problem is.... You not select a new target Altitude.
So if your at 20.000 and you leave this 20.000 in the display.... And change to VS .... You can not change the VS in case your "still" on your target Alt already.
Good Luck !

Pizman, at least with an Airbus you are right and wrong at the same time.

From the logic you are right: if ALT Hold is set, then nothing would change the ALT than turning the ALT-knob.

But in an Airbus you can set V/S with active AP to e.g.1800, but nothing happens during flight. THEN you change the ALT and the AP takes the already set V/S (hopefully to a reasonable value).

I don't know how this is in other airplanes and i'm pretty sure that this is not a MF-error, it just depends on how the V/S decoder is defined.
E.g. when in preconditions is set: only read value if AP is off....bamm.
