Good morning, everyone!

I have a quick question. I want to use for the display of my VHF two 7-segment displays on 3 Digits or a 6-digit display so as not to have an "empty box".
But I understood that the only solution for mobiflight was to use the MAX7219 module which contains 8 digits.

Is it possible to "do the same" this module in order to obtain a recognized 6-digit display?

thank you all!

You are wrong at a little thing.

The Max Chip can handle up to (!) 8 digits. So if you connect a 6-digit or 2 3-digit module, you are fine. Just connect two cathodes less. Thats it.

If you buy a finished module with 8 digits, be aware that you get one where you can remove single digits without soldering. That would be possible as well.

There are some more threads regarding this in this forum, the search is your friend....;)

E.g. i had some questions as well ....see here https://www.mobiflight.com/forum/topic/6869.html

I had read it!

But what I don’t understand is what the MAXI is sold with the digits already in place or it is to be taken apart as needed?

It depends on how many time, patience and soldering skills you have.

If all of these are enought, buy the Chip and the LED-modules you like and build it on your own.

Or you buy a module totally ready on a PCB with a Max and 8 single Digits which can be removed one by one.
Then you can build "your" modules of desire.

There is a post here in the forum where is an ebay link for this special modules.

I never see a Display with 8 Singles, we can by remove change into a real 3,4,5,6 Display.
The only i ever see have 2x4 Blocks.

The Fixed one ( Mostly Blue PCB color) ....

And the "removeable" one (mostly Green PCB)
Good Luck !

We have 3, 4, 5 and 6 digit modules ready to go over at LoungePilot.com. We also have LED segments for these in various colours.
