Hi all,

here is the current state of my 3d-printed dashboard:

Front

Rear

rear again

It is driven by five Arduino MEGA (one foe the pedestal not visible here, tank selector and fuel valve only), has 12 steppers, 16 servos, 5 displays and a lot of switches, buttons and potentiometers.

I have talked to Sebastian, Tuomas, Trevor and Kai, thank you all for your hints and help. The suggestion was to offer the 3d-files of this dashboard for free via Github. I have extracted all non-instument parts, namely panels, brackets and glareshield rim, 3d files in 3MF and STL-format.

I will also publish the instruments. They work fine for me but not all of them are perfect and some are quite demanding to assemble. The big round gauges (RG70) are standard size hence any 3rd party instument will also do. I would also highly appreciate any collaboration and ideas on how to improve this project.

For any questions I may be found on discord.
cheers

Volker

Hi all,

during the last summer I allowed myself some time off flight simulation and did some summer activities. I upgraded my motorcycle license from A1 to A2 and did some thorough contemplating in how to proceed with my flight sim project.

I came to the conclusion that I will cancel the home cockpit project for three main reasons as there were
  • Health issues that make it impossible to maintain the required CAD developement of the instruments.
  • No interest or adequate feedback (apart from Sebastian, Tuomas, Trevor and Kai) or interest in steam gauges that would justify investing countless hours.
  • MS Flight Simulator forcing a 40 GiB update on their user's systems, which I will not allow. Enough is enough. (No, X-Plane, which I also own but have not installed, is no option for the same reason)

Hence I have decided to turn my back on flight simulation entirely. I will either sell or give away my dashboard as shown in the images in above post.

Kind regards

Volker

Hi Volker,

sad to hear that you cancel your (our) beloved profession. Especially if it is due to health problems, and i hope that they are not to serious.

However, it was an honor to "meet" you and to talk to you about our fable.

Take care and stay healthy.
And as you might know: you ever meet twice in life.

Cheers

Kai
