Hi,
I'm trying to understand the settings for configuring a stepper motor wet compass.
Looking at this image ( )...
This says that for a value of 1000 in the game (X-plane), move the stepper 12000 steps, correct?
So for a compass, I would set it to 360 , 200 (for a standard 1.8-deg/step motor), correct? [ Or 360, 800 if I'm using 1/4-step.]

I'm asking because I've needed to set it to 360, 1050 on one computer, but the same compass on another computer needed 360, 884 to get it to move the correct amount.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks.

That sounds strange. Never see this before..... and technical this is not possible.
Do we talk about the SAME Compass or a Other Compass from the same brand ??
Technical one Thing can not work different on 2 computers..... But for sure 2 Compass that looks identical can have internal a different logic and work different !

About basic Question:

Your right !

1. Sim/Stepper means as you said the Value in Sim (Range) that occure in a Number of Stepps.
For a Compass we would normaly use e.g. 360 for SIM and the number of Steps that are need for a 360° Full Circle.

2. About Your Numbers.....

I don´t know your Stepper..... But for a ULN2003 Controller with the Standard Steppers (28-BYJ-48) the stepper value is 2048.
Other Steppers work with 1024 or 4096 . Normaly this is a 2^x Value ..... 2-4-8-16-32-64-128-256-512-1024-2048-4096 and so on.
But i never see a stepper with 200 or 800 till now !

About Compass Mode.....
This is needed if a Value "swap" back to "0" .....
A Compass would turn 359-->000 instead of 359-360-361 and so on.
Without Compass Mode the System would turn the Needle 359° backwards..... WITH Compass Mode it understand it must turn further to go to a new lap.
Good Luck !
