Due to space limitations I want to wire the USB connections straight to the board instead of using the plug. It looks like the 6 pin header is used for this but I can't figure out which is the TX and which is the RX.

As i know these Pins are NOT available as Female or Male Pins on the Mega additionaly and only run as lines on the PCB
May i´m wrong but also a short google Search confirm this to me.

The google hits say.....

Simply Desolder the USB Port from the PCB and on the now empty 4 holes you solder your wires.... Or better solder 4 connectors and put the wires onto it.

Whatever..... I would rethink this.... A self build solder solution will never be so perfect as the premounted Port.
I would not do this.... May a alternate is to drill a hole ( size of USB connector) on the back of your panel and put the wire through....
I not know your Panel.... But a stable working system with a hole on the side is more usefull as a perfect looking box with a broke USB connector that disconnect Mobiflight every 5 Mins from your Computer !
