Does anyone have any tips on how to connect displays.

Previously I have used the MAX boards with displays attached. My new MCP upgrade needs 6 digit displays and I’m unsure about the wiring. Any help appreciated

Thank you

Hi
There are many smart ways to do this....

The question is.... How good are your skills (solder, electrical, ) ..... How much money you like to spent ..... Do you get experience and access to professional equipment like CNC and Laser Cutters or 3D Printers AND finally.... How professional do you excpect the result.

We get solutions from A-Z ... From Cheap to Expensive.... From easy to difficult and from poor to professional.

Best way.... Check our DISCORD Server in the Panel/Hardware/Showroom section.
OR
Get in personal Contact to a Advanced Usern Stephan or Myself in DISCORD. there we can talk (Headset) together and i can show you all the possible ways.

Just to bring some example.....

The most easy and cheap way..... but not verry professional :
Use 8 Digit Premade Tubes and build your panel in a way so you can "hide" 2 Diggits behind the Panel. E.g. Dig 1 and 8 are behind the panel.... and Dig 2-7 is shown thorugh the hole.

The most professional and also expensive way.... Build PCB´s that include single Diggits ( 6 single 1x1 in your case) .... Also include the Max Chips on it ( Not tubes) .

A little more cheap..... Build PCB for the Displays..... But wire the Lines (14 in your case) by hand to a Empty Max Tube where you remove the diggits.

Cheap but difficult..... Not build PCB´s.... Use Cheap Breadboards and solder everything and wire with thin cables..... Same Logic like above but save 2-3 US$ per Display.

Finally.... If you can build PCB yourself ( CNC Laser) then you save again money..... But sure you need a lot of experience.

You see.... All is possible. Talk to us! Then we can guide you !
Good Luck !

I made a controller card to get the most out of an Arduino with Mobiflight and the MAX7219 and the individual 7-segment displays.
Easy wiring and stackable.
Up to 4 cards with 8 ports and a maximum of 8 7segments with external power supply.
