Hello,

I'm ready to draw my first electonic diagrams and create my pcb layouts to start building my hardware. I currently have no idea what tool to use for that. Anybody out there that has experience with some tools? Which one should I use, and why?

I just created an account on EasyEDA. This is of course sponsored by JLCPCB, a Chinese company that makes PCB's, sells components and even offers a SMT mounting service (not bad at all, because I don't think I will the risk to solder my own SMD microcontrollers). Does any European user has experience with their service?

Thanks for your advice!

Hi,

although this post is a little older....maybe someone else can use the following information.

I use the software from https://www.kicad.org/ and it is pretty good.

Cheers

Hi Kai,

I also use KiCad V10.1- It's a very good software to create schematics and PCB's. It does not have an auto router in this version but there is another addon that contains an auto router. There are several videos on you tube regarding KiCad that describes the installing of this auto router. It works very good.

Good Evening Stephan,

do we talk about the same software?

The most recent version of KiCad is 5.1.10.

But you are right, a real autorouter is not included, but when "drawing" a track it can recognice obstacles and more or less better ways.

So for smaller circuits and for home users it is more than enough.

Hi Kai,

my fault - you are right - it is V5.1.10.

Regarding the autorouter, there is one as addon and works very good. If you need it simply search in google with "install free autoroute kicad 5.1"
