Hi, im currently running with 3 7 segment LEDs, all is good until I try and run a simple button in addition, i've tried using a breadboard to split the ground etc but it all starts getting very odd with the button not recognized and the LEDs starting to do strange things......I assume this means I am at my limit with the 3 right?, anyone else have this issue.

thanks, Steve
Thanks, Steve Avery

GRD is GRD.....
Means it´s no matter if you wire 30 LED to the same GRD Pin or if you wire them "paralell or in series" via a long cable through the whole element.

Only one rule.... All Devices from One Board MUST end on a GRD of the same Board.... EXCEPT ... If you connect the grounds of TWO ( or more) Board together ( a wire from GRD Mega1 to GRD Mega 2 and so on) then its no matter if you wire a Device that is connected to Mega1 finaly to aother Mega.... Cause THEN all Ground are combined already.

In easy words.... Most cockpitbuilder combine the Megas via GRD to GRD Wires to "one global system" .
Good Luck !

Are you using the LED tubes that come with two displays and the MAX7219 on the board? If so you need to remove the diodes if you are chaining more than two in a row otherwise very strange things will happen. Use a soldering iron to remove the diode and replace it with a short piece of wire. Then make sure that each display connects directly to power and ground (instead of in a daisy chain).

The issue with the diode D1 on these PCBs is well known und more than one time detailed described in this forum.
