MobiFlight Community Support

I upgraded my Mobiflight to 7.8.3 form 7.8.1 and now it will not connect to my Mega.
I use Mobiflight to run only my Whiskey Compass and it was working fine until today when I got a message stating my config could not be loaded so I updated to7.8.3 and it worked fine for 5 minutes. Now when I run Mobiflight it connects to my Mega and then disconnects. I have disconected all my other Arduinos.

I have deleted and reinstalled Mobiflight but with no luck.
Is there a solution because I cannot find one.

I am still having issues with MF.
I can now connect to a new Arduino I added and I checked whether I had Win10 update KB4565627 installed and I do not.

I am using MF version 7.8.3, however it also does it with v7.8.2

My debug log states that it cannot build the module tree and hangs. These are the last few lines of the debug log: -

Badly this Win Update and the needed Patch for Mobiflight result in a confusing situation at the moment.
Additional Sebastian has fixed some routines in the Board detection but our tests was good so we not think ( at first) this is preoblematic.

Please confirm.....

1. Your Windows is UpToDate
Whatever you not have that Number of Update (You say so) .... Lots of users got different Numbers ( in case of Windows Versions) BUT all Users as i know got a Net Framework Patch last weeks ( Whatever they use Win 8 Win 10 or any Sub Version.
Please Confirm this, or download all Patches. Sure Mibiflight now is build to work with the newest Patches of Windows and maby is buggy if you not got them.

2. Is Firmware installed on all your Boards ( New Version for 7.8.3) ?
Maybe this was not done automaticly or get broke.
If your Boards are not detected... Are they listet ( e.g. as a Unknown arduinio) in the /settings/MobiflightBoard Tab ??
If yes rightclick on it there and choose "flash firmware" to manualy install it.

3. You can try to Delete the Boards also by EEPROM Clear Sketch.... So it´s complete Empty. Then you can check if this solve the Problem.
But NOTE: this remove the Data and settings on it. If you not got a Backup MFMC File you must create the devices for new !

I'm getting nowhere with this.
I have updated Win10 Pro x64 to latest version: 2004, but as yet I have not installed the .NET Framework update KB4565627 dated July 14 2020.
I cleared the sketch from the MEGA by using EEPROM_CLEAR and then when starting MF I have to right click and install the firmware version 7.8.3
I then add the device, pin config etc and upload to the MEGA. All good so far.
I add the device settings to MF config click "RUN" and the compass runs OK. However the MF screen is showing the module as not connected, although FSUIPC is connected. (see image)

When I close down MF and restart MF no longer recognises the MEGA and I have to do the EEPROM_CLEAR operation etc. all over again

I have tried deleting MF and making a fresh install but it does nor owrk for me so far. I have also performed a registry clean although this should not be required.
I am using MF version 7.8.3 and Arduino version 1.8.13.
I have other MEGA's but these are all unplugged.

Your report is not logical..... Or i missunderstand.

Mobiflight 7.8.3 is just created to solve the Problem with the NET Framework Update.

I not test out if it´s downgrade compatible..... But finaly that make no sense to me.
Mobiflight 7.8.2 work fine aslong you not install the NET Update. 7.8.3 is build to solve this !

You say you have Windows UpToDate ( except the last Framework Update) BUT you use 7.8.3 that was build to work with that Update.

Whatever the Missing Module issue is pretty sure a Bug in 7.8.3 we still research for....
I recommend to choose for a way.
1. Use the former 7.8.2 without the NET Framework Update
OR
2. Use new 7.8.3 .... But sure then you should also install that Windows Update !!

LAST NOTE:

Some users report they could solve the "non detected Board" Problem by click on the "Help / Check for Update" Button.
They say THEN after closing the Popup all boards are detected for that seasson. Procedure must be done on every startup of Mobiflight.
Please try this.... Thats the solution until Sebastian can locate and fixy the problem itself !

You must be misunderstanding then!

I was of the impression that v7.8.3 was developed to solve the "syntax error" message when running 7.8.2.

I am most intersted in your comment here regarding update KB4565627: -

OK, panic over.

I have now got it working by installing Win10 v2004 plus the .NET Framework update KB45656277.

However the Arduino is not detected on start up but when using the Help/Check for updates trick it works.

Confusing, lets hope this gets sorted out soon.

I´m not the programmer.... so i also wondering WHY this click on Help/Udates solve this.

I think thats a problem in case Sebastian not only solve the NET Framework Problem.... he also inlclude a "old idea" to solve a problem with double detected Boards.
For me it looks his solution for THAT Problem occure in the new problem.

But hopefully he now got all information to provide a Hotfix within the next days !
