Hello All,

I am putting together a new desktop PC. I'd like to make sure it's capable of supporting a large home cockpit build, so USB support is key. I'd like to reduce the amount of dangling USB hubs. Can you recommend the best number and type of USB headers I should look for on the motherboard?

Thanks,

Mike

I´m not a Pro here.... But does this make a difference ?

The USB Controller of a Mainboard is connected to a fixed number of "lanes" to the CPU .... Whatever you got a Computer with 2,4,8, 12 or more USB ports.... All share the same Lanes. So if i understand right it´s no difference if you technical got only 1 USB Port on a computer and you split it with hubs to 32 Ports. or if you build a PC that have 32 Ports in the Case..... Both got only one controller!

Whatever.... The Data we use to controll a Homecockpit is "nothing" for USB..... Also the 20 Year old USB 1.0 System can handle 1 Million Bytes per Second..... Mobiflight will send just a couple of bytes and only if a switch is used or if a Display need to be updated.

So.... If you realy like no External Hubs and you want to cable 30-40 single USB Wires to your Computer ( instead of comfortbale Hubs) then i would buy a FullTower Case and for example 10 USB Headers you can mount on PCI Slots or on Sata Ports ( if the maybe 4-6 premade USB ports are full) .

************
For me this is not logical.... But i would be interested in a professional Comment of a other USer ..... Maybe i´m completly wrong !
Good Luck !

I have some issues with Saitek hardware not working properly on USB 3. Are there any known USB 2/3 issues out there?
