Hi again.

I´m motorising the 737 trim wheel with stepper this time (not with a motor as I told in old post).

The config is ok, and the stepper runs ok, but the force of the stepper 28BYJ-48 (ULN2003) is so week that it can´t move the gears to move the wheels. I have an old TQ with no optimal config I know... but it is all I have available for the moment...

The question is the next. Can I use other (strong) stepper with the ULN2003 controller? The controller will support the motor or it will burn due to more power consumption?

Steppers used in 3d printers are cheap and strong but they use 4 wires, and the ULN2003 controller is connected to stepper with 5 wires...

Thanks for reading!!!

Hi,

the ULN2003 can drive up to 50V (external and upt to 500mA per Driver Output.
So you can use a stronger stepper, bit have a look into the ULN Datasheet before.

Otherwise you can take every Driver (also ULN3001-4) with a TTL input. The stepper-voltage should be external powered.
5 wires are right. 4 wires for the coils and 1 as GND. The 5th is GND.

Thanks for your fast answer.

I'll try with another stepper with more torque using ULN2003 following your instructions
