Good morning, I have a concern about the levers of power, I'm putting together my a320 with basic elements and I need to know if for power levers I need a potentiometer and if so I connect it to mobifligth. or if you can work with a rotary encoder. Thank you

Hi Martin,

if you wand to built the power lever DIY, for this you need a potentiometer.

Potentiometer can not be handled by Mobiflight. Use a Joystick controller or if you have a ready-to-use-Throttle you can evaluate it via FSUIPC directly.
For a control via encoder I do not have any experiances.

Hi

Normaly a Throttle is done by a Potentiometer ( Cause its a stepples input from 0% to 100% ) You will need a Start and a End Point....
A Encoder is endless. Whateveer you build a mechaincal Endstop the next problem is that a Encoder have no Position.... a Encoder can only say LEFT Action or RIGHT Action.

As Stephan Said.... Potentiometers are not possible with Mobiflight at the moment ( maby in future... but not sure)
But thats no problem. Inputs ( specialy via Potentiometers) are normly done by Joystickcontrollers.. Simply Buy a LeoBodnar or use a Arduino Micro/Leo with a custom firmware.
( I personaly will also use the Joy Controllers whatever Mobiflight get this feature.... Here FSUIPC is pretty sure always the better solution ! )

About the Encoder Technic.
Basicly this is possible with some knowledge in technical stuff. The Problem of the encoder is still the missing current position check. ... But with a alltime calibration the Encoder can work.
It also can be created with a hudge number of single Microbuttons. For example you build a system with 50 single Buttons and a mechanical "nose" that press always a button while you move the Throttle.... Each button will set the Sim to a correct value.

Summary.... For Throttle i personaly high recommend a Potentiometer. a Technic with Buttons/Encoder is possible but not so "smooth" and also to much difficult.
Good Luck !
