Hi
New to the Forum and MobiFlight decided to downsize from a 737 to a Cessna:w00t:

I have successfully wired a rotary encoder to the mega however in the drop down list I do not see Heading Bug could someone guide me as to how I do this?

Hi Paul
Welcome to Mobiflight !

the "DropDown" ( pretty shure you mean "Presets" ) are just a relict from the early Days.... It was planed to support a full list of functions..... But Sebastian still see it is not useable cause everybody need some little changings and individual sulutions.... So THIS List should be seen like a tutorial section.... It show some basic functions and how Mobiflight set the informations ( Like offset Adress, Size, Typ , Bitmask and so on)

Finaly you need to find out those Data yourselfs and you have to fill the fields in the Config (FSUIPC TAB ) with this informations.

In Your FSUIPC Folder ( Sim Folder/Modules) there is a PDF File called "FSUIPC4 OffsetStatus.pdf"
THERE you find all Offsets that existing ( For Standard Aircrafts )
You also find a file there called "The2016 List of FSX and P3D Controlls.pdf" THERE are listed ALL EventID for Standard Aircrafts.

If you use a AddOn like PMDG then you need Additional Lists (provided by the AddOn puplisher for example)

****
Please try out.... If you need help then use a Standard Preset Function and try to reproduce how it work with help of this list.... Thats easy.
If realy not possible for you please ask again.... Then i try to guide you with a example !
Good Luck !

Hi Pizman

Thanks for your reply, the Heading Bug and VOR OBS worked directly from the presets for me, however the other gauges wont I have tried to do as you have explained with the Altitude Bug with no success. Would you be kind enough to give an example as to how I do this so I can then proceed with doing the remainder myself.

Thanks in advance

Hi

Update to my last post I have now managed to get VOR2 working through Event ID however I cant get the Altitude Bug to work the same way. In Event ID the Alt Bug shows as 66510 it has the same number for both + & - is this correct as I can not find another number for it, the encoder is working as I can see the light flashing on the Arduino as I turn it. Does anyone have any ideas how to get this to work?

My second question is I don't see a ADF bug setting in the Event ID drop down list how do I go about setting this up?

I am using the default Cessna172 in FSX

Hi Paul,

please activate the logging-function in MF: EXTRAS -> SETTINGS -> LOGGING (hook) and DEBUG. The blinking LED(s). The flashing LEDs on the MEGA-board only say that data is running via the USB cable. Although this is not wrong as an indication, but with the loggin function, it is unique.

Then you can see how MF reacts if it recognizes a correct config. So you can see that your config is correct so far. Then it is mostly a problem with the parameter.

Hi Stephan

I changed to Debug as you suggested and here are the results. I have Alt Bug Select with Event ID 66510 and Parameter 1 What am I doing wrong here?

5/19/2018 4:17:42 PM(229): Executing OnRight: Encoder 4@SN-b98-482
5/19/2018 4:17:42 PM(229): Config found for button: Encoder 4@SN-b98-482
5/19/2018 4:17:41 PM(389): Executing OnLeft: Encoder 4@SN-b98-482

Hi Paul,

try this:

Open in FSX and got to the Menu -> ADDONS -> FSUIPC

In FSUIPC go to the tab LOGGING and activate the hook in front of "Button and key operations" and "Events"
Then activate the hook in front of "sent to console window and click ok.

Now you can do your operations into the simulation you want to examine. Look into the console window and you see the EventID and the parameters of the operations you performed. These values you take over in MF.

Event ID's according to the picture

1. Kohlsman Increase/Decrease Left 65884 Right 65883
2. VOR1_OBI_INC/VOR1_OBI_DEC Left 65662 Right 65663
3. Left 65878 Right 65877
4. HEADING_BUG_INC/HEADING_BUG_DEC Left 65880 Right 65879
5. VOR2_OBI_INC/VOR2_OBI_DEC Left 65664 Right 65665
6. ADF Heading Offset 0C6C 2
7. Speed calibration (the knob on the speed indicator) Left 65886 Right 65885

All are Event ID's except for the 6 which is a FSUIPC offset.

Hi there Paul

For ADF you use The provided FSUIPC offset above (nr 6) and use $-1 for left and $+1 for right. For fast left and right you xan use for example $-10 / $+10.

Just for Info...

Take Care about the "SELECT" and "SET" Events.

A Increase / Decrease Event will simply Inc/Dec the corespondending system....
A SET Event is normaly used to direct SET a Value.... For Example a SET Heading Event with Parameter 123 will SET the Heading exactly to 123.

The SELECT-Events i never try out.... Maby this means that THIS Element now is "klicked" to Active and now can be Increase decrease by a special other couple of events.
( Maby you have ONE Increase and ONE Decrease Event now for ALL of this Stuff and even what System is SELECT currently then THIS will be controlled..... maby used for a Multi
Switch where one Encoder can controll 10 different Things )
EDIT:
iconQuote:

KEY_ALTITUDE_BUG_SELECT ALTITUDE_BUG_SELECT Selects the altitude reference for use with +/-

Sounds with this SELECT Event you can use +/- Button on your Keyboard ( Or by +/- keysend of Mobiflight) to change the currently SELCTED System !

EDIT END:

Summary.... Check always for right EventID.... In Case of "Altitude Bug" thats the "Kohlmann" Events !
