I have setup Connector and Mega correctly. The Config Wizard Test button turns the LED on and off.

The Connector shows a good module connection and a good FSUIPC connection. But putting the parklng brake on and off has no effect when the Connector is running - the LED is off always.

However the FSUIPC log is very interesting. After removing Pause, it shows that the PARKING_BRAKES event always has a null Param value (0). This means the bit masking will never be true, hence the LED never turns on:

1284891 *** EVENT: Cntrl= 65561 (0x00010019), Param= 0 (0x00000000) PAUSE_TOGGLE
1286531 *** EVENT: Cntrl= 65752 (0x000100d8), Param= 0 (0x00000000) PARKING_BRAKES
1288797 *** EVENT: Cntrl= 65752 (0x000100d8), Param= 0 (0x00000000) PARKING_BRAKES
1290719 *** EVENT: Cntrl= 65752 (0x000100d8), Param= 0 (0x00000000) PARKING_BRAKES
1293531 *** EVENT: Cntrl= 65752 (0x000100d8), Param= 0 (0x00000000) PARKING_BRAKES

Is this a bug in FSX? I'm using Win 10, FSX SP1 and SP2 (original version, not Steam).

Paul

Hi Max,

did you config both parts of your configuration? You have to set a parameter OnPress (usually Param 1) and a Paramter OnRelease (usually 0).

Your protocol only shows the parameter 0 and that is to release the PB. I miss the Param=1 to set the PB.

At first.... Please NOTE: Arduino UNO is not supported 100%.... Maby it work... Maby it won´t work.... We NOT support UNO official at the moment.... So if problem is at the baord we can´t help you. it´s HIGH recommend to use Arduino MEGA only !!

****

About the Problem....

To help you we need more detailed information WHAT exactly you do.....

If Possible please tell us WHAT you set in the problematic INPUT Config...
-What kind of Input do you use ? FSUIPC Offset, EventID, Keysend ????
-What settings do you choose ? Offsetadress, Size, Bitmask, Parameter or in case of eventID Idnumber and Parameter
-What do you set for "On Press" and "On Release"... Do you use both functions and if Yes what settings are done.
- At least can you confirm the Button/Switch is working correct ?? Please make the Keypress Test with a Editor Programm like "Edit" or "Wordpad" .

Hope you understand..... We try to help you..... But YOU must tell us exaclty what you have done.... We can´t see your system !
Good Luck !

Stephan,

I followed the MobiFlight tutorial exactly:
https://www.mobiflight.com/en/tutorials/led-parking-brake.html

The Tutorial says us the preset "General - Parking Brake". That preset uses offset 0x0BC8, type Int, 2 bytes wide, and Masks with 0xFFFF

Hi George,

as pizman says, the UNO is experimental and the support is stopped. We recommend the Arduino MEGA or clones of it. Then all should work fine.

Then you use the FS9 (FS2004). These Informations here and in the tutorials are for FSX and partially for his addons (like XPlane, PMDG etc.).

Maybe that the EventIDs and the Offsets to FS2004 are different. You should find the corresponding list in your FS9-root-folder\modules\FSUIPC Documents
The Offset-List you can find here: http://www.projectmagenta.com/all-fsuipc-offsets/

Hi Paul,

if you know the correct offset, why did you take 65752 instead of 0x0BC8? Choose for select in OnPress and OnRelease the FSUIPC-offset the Parking Brake and press the USE-Button. Then all necessary Parameters will be taken automatically. You only have to fill in the values (1 for set and 0 for release).

Stephan,

I checked the FSUIPC offsets and 0x0BC8 is correct for Parking Brake, But look again at the FSUIPC log file, FSX always sends Param=0. FSX does NOT SEND Param=1, when the parking brake is toggled on and off with the mouse.

So this problem is either a bug in FSX SP2, a bug in the default FSX 737-800 or some bug in FSUIPC or other software that causes Param=1 to be filtered/blocked. Or perhaps the Tutorial on this website is out of date?

I cannot see any feature in MobiFlight for OnPress or OnRelease, there is no mention of them in the Tutorial for the Parking Brake. Please explain.

Also 65752 comes from FSUIPC log file, I simply enabled the FSUIPC log file to debug this problem.

Paul

Ahhhhh :w00t:

By default new Mappings are not active. I did not notice that setting until a few minutes ago.

When I check "active" the Parking Brake LED lights up correctly. :)

But, the Tutorial screenshot of the ConfigWizard is wrong; it shows active unchecked. New screenshots are needed - would you like me to prepare English screenshots? The Parking Brake tutorial is in English, but the forms are in German. However, I want the UK to REMAIN in Europe, so perhaps a mix of English and German is good.;)

Hi Paul,

a tutorial is supposed to show how to do something, but it also requires a little bit of mental work, that's called thinking and understanding. Please do not get this wrong!

Please do not only look at the picture, please also read the corresponding text.

iconTutorial:

Let's create a new configuration for the parking brake switch.
First, assign a name to the configuration by double-clicking on the description field. Name it "parking brake".
Click on the "..."-Button at the end of the row. This will open the "Input Config Wizard".
The Input Config Wizard is similar to the Config Wizard used for outputs. We had introduced it in the LED tutorial.
Change to the "Input"-Tab since we don't need any preconditions for our configuration.

You are right that in the English tutorial in the images are German texts, but the terms can be translated quite easily and where the German terms in the English tutorial are, you have the corresponding terms in English.

Also missing is the image, which, as it says in the text below, a name for the configuration to be created (Parking Brake), which would certainly have set the missing of your active hook. You got that with the name.

It should be clear to everyone that a configuration to be observed by MobiFlight must also be activated by setting the active hook. That's why the word "Active" is written above the column. There are many users who already implement configurations in MF without activating them because they do not want to forget them and because they have not yet connected the appropriate hardware. I am such a user.

As you can see, such a tutorial also requires your own cooperation and I do not consider it absolutely necessary to depict a photograph for every single step.

Ultimately, you show very nicely that you have noticed the failure of the Tuorial and have set the hook independently by your Ahhhh experience. With this you have taken a nice step forward and such a failure will not happen to you in the future. Very nice - keep it up!

My apollogy for that problem....

The tutorial was made by Sebastian long time ago.... It also was made with a older (german) Mobiflight version ( for example the transform field not exist in the past).
Another fact is that it´s always difficult for a proffesional user to explane something to a beginner...

For example the "Active" checkbox is for me 100% Self explaned.... So if i must make a step by step guide i wouldn´t write " Please active the checkbox" cause i simply think everybody should understand this already himself !

BUT: Your request is correct !
Our Basic tutorials are adressed to absolute beginners and there first trys in Mobiflight and cockpitbuilding....
So it should be 100% easy and clear.

I hope we find a timeslot for that in this year to overwview and update the tutorials to current version and we will have look about those issues.

Thank You !
Good Luck !

Thank you Stefan and Pizman, I agree 100% with your thoughts.

It was my mistake to miss the Active column................but as a software professional myself I know it is important to note down all the beginner mistakes, which is why I created a forum topic.

I want the excellent MobiFlight to continue to grow! I will be using it in my multi-monitor flight sim, to emulate the 787 and prototype the MCP, flaps, gear, lights etc.

Lots of building to do as you can see!

Hi Paul,

I do not need to add pizman's statement anymore.

But you seem to have started a very ambitious project to which I would like to congratulate you. Whenever you have questions, do not be afraid to put them here in the forum. I am sure that everyone is ready to assist you with words and deeds.

If Possible please tell us WHAT you set in the problematic INPUT Config...
-What kind of Input do you use ? FSUIPC Offset, EventID, Keysend ????

I just follow the TUTORIAL step by step. thus, I had use FSUIPC Offset.
I don't know how to use Keysend (my FSUIPC doesn't detect ARDUIDO CARD)

on press/release I put "1" and "0"
Only the LED is working
When "period" is press, the LED works but nothing happen with any switch.

I'll check with wordpad and let you know.

thand you so much

After testing again with ARDUINO MEGA
Anode and Catode are correctly set with the resistor.

the switch is correctly set with a 10k resistor
the TEST doesn't show anathing
the wordpad doesn't show anything
the FSUIPC status show "not connected" when FS9 is started
the FSUIPC Status shows "connected" when FSX is started

The Switch nor the LED doesn't work in FSX nor FS9

now I will go to the previews setup with ARDUINO UNO which works on my laptop.
Yes, for any reason, the ARDUINO MEGA doesn't work in my laptop (WIN7 64Bit
full updated with ARDUINO IDE setup correctly : port selected correctly and card
selected correctly)

All the best
