Hi all,

Although I totally agree that Mobiflight does indeed rock, is it possible to change the default message that flags up on the 16x2 display?

Many thanks,

Ryan.

NO. Its hard Coded.
I think you can remove this and turn it into Blank or maby " RYAN IS THE KING" if you rework the Mobiflight Firmware by Youreself. :P
Good Luck !

I was beginning to wonder if I'd suggested rewriting the sacred texts with my question..

Ryan is definitely not the king, he just likes to have things personalised, thats all.

Thanks for letting me know.

I will look into it. I can also make it disappear after a couple of seconds.
Have a great day!

No stress either way boss. Just wanted it to say something like "Awaiting FSUIPC connection" or "try not to crash the plane this time" or something!

maybe a user-editable string in a file?

Sorry my friend... That was only a Joke B)

I think the Problem is a bit deeper.
Do Ryan have a Problem with the Text or with the Light itself ?

For me personaly its no matter if there is "Mobi Rocks" on it. Cause my "Sim experience" realy starts after i Run the Sim, run Mobi, Run the Homecockpit and so on....
So its no problem if there is written something before i start Mobiflight !

BUT

A Bigger Problem is the Backlight!

For A realistic Cockpit all Displays and LED are OFF aslong i power up the Master Battery Switch !
A 7 Segment can be blanked with Precondition ! But the Backlight of LCD Displays are ON all the time when Arduino have USB Power !
So... The Display Light up ( With or Without Text) full brightness.... Whatever my Aircraft is Cold and Dark !
And THATS finaly a Problem for me !

I Think a Software Solution is not possible with the Mobiflight GUI ( We would need a precondition that is specialy for backlight)

@ Stephan.....
We talk about this in the past i think.
Do you know if there is a clear single Wire that is ONLY for Backlight but not involved in chip controll ?
If YES we can CUT it..... Set a Releas between.... And Controll the Relais with a Output Config....

Config got Master Battery Switch as Data....
Battery OFF = Offset 0 = Releais OFF = Power Cutoff to Backlight
Battery ON = Offset 1 = Releais ON = Power supported to Backlight

What do you think about ?
Good Luck !

No problem!

I just thought it'd be a cool thing to personalise the message a little. It works fine.

My I2C backpacks have jumpers for the backlight. There may be a way to use those with a switch to turn the light on and off.

It's something I want to find out too as I have to disconnect the USB and external power now to get them to go off..

@pizman

with my backlight, which is powered by a separate power supply, the power supply line can be cut and then switched via a relay controlled by the battery master switch. There I see no problem.
The backlight must be separated from the chip controll, because the chip controll runs with 5V, the backlight with 12V.

The proposal made by you should work, provided that the wiring is as mentioned above.
