HI, I was just wondering if there is a limit in connecting cable lenght for a 7 segment display. Is 1.2 meter too long?

Yes.. Maby :-/

Ofte we hear recommend lenght is maby 30-50 cm . But i personaly never try out.
Pretty shure the qualitiy of the wire is a fact, too.
Also you must know what "part" you talk about..... the Wire from Arduino to Maxchip ( or Max to Max in a cain) is one System....
The Wire from Max to the Display ( If you use a external Diplay and not the fixed ones on the tube) is a other fact.

I would say.... 30-50 cm should be good.... But you can simply tryout 1,2 m before you fix it finaly.... If it work in all situations then it´s ok, too.

By the way.... Why do you need 1,2 m..... Simply plan a additional Arduino nearby the Display and all is fine, too.
