I am building a fire warning panel for a twin engine turboprop, the warning panel has lights for three different sections of the engine. Since P3d only supports one fire per engine and not in multiple sections I will just light up the indicators for the hot section of the motor. The real issue is trying to get the test button to work, I would like to hook up all three sections of both warning lights and be able to light up those leds with a button press to simulate the test function. Is there something I’m missing in Mobiflight or is this not that simple to do?

Cheers and thanks for the help

Hi

Basicly: You can only simulate a function, that is existing !

Do you use a Addon Aircraft that have those ( 3 zone) virtual Warning LED´s ?? If not and you tell me that P3D itself only have ONE Data Offset for the hole Engine then it is simply not possible.

About the test button.
Again the Question: Do you use a AddOn that simulate this testing function ( or is this include in P3D ?)
If yes you can use this Offset. If Not you need to make a own provisional solution.

For Example....
You can work with a Custom Offset.... So your testing switch is controlling a free Offset (1/0) and your LED will light then when the Original fire Offset is 1 OR when your Custom Testing switch Offset is 1.
Alternate is using a hardware solution.... Cable the LED with 2 Circuits.... A= Arduino Pin (Taht show real Fire Status) and B= Direct 5V controlled by your testing switch.
Then if you push the switch it will power the LED ( whatever the Fire Offset itself is already 0 )
Good Luck !

Thank you sir, I figured as much but wanted to make sure. P3D only accounts for a engine fire and there is no delineation of location. I was planning to manage the test function with a simple circuit so I will go that way as there is no fire panel test function in P3D either that I am aware of. Thought it was best to ask though just in case there was a simpler method.

Thanks again

OK.

Some last notes...

1. With this Hardware Solution you are indipendet from the main System..... That means this "test" funtion is not checking for example the Battery Offset.
That means your LED will light always if you push the button.... Also if your Battery Main Switch is OFF at the moment.
( See it simple like a light switch that have no connection to the Simulator itself !)
You can use a relais here, too to make for example a "breaker" between switch and LED... and this Relais only Close if in Sim Battery is On.

Just think about if this is needed or if you can accept this "little problem".

2. If you like to make a improvisional use of this "section Fire Aleart" it is possible to make a "FAKE" System maby.
Is there a special system to only shot a bottle into one section? Or is the extinguish function work for the Full Engine ?

If there is no section function needed and the 3 LED are just "Optical" you can use a logical Value to simulate a "random looklike" location of Fire.

For Example: You can use the Current Magnetic heading offset for That and you build a "fake logic" that the LED are working only in a special Course range.
That means: Your Fire Warning LEDs will light up ONLY if the P3D Warning offset is ACTIVE ( Means the Simulator hava a Fire in the Engine) AND for example....
- FRONT LED should only light if Magnetic Heading is 0-230
- CENTER LED should only light if Magnetic Heading is 70-290
- REAR LED should only light if Magnetic Heading is 130-360

With that logic for example a fire warning that occure in current Heading 45° NE Only FRONT Led will Light.
If you are currently in Heading 90° E then FRONT and CENTER will light.
Heading 180° S will occure in a 3 section Warning.

You can do that with other systems, too... For example you can use the FSX/P3D internal Clock...... There you can say for example from 0-8 O clock UTC a Engine Fire should only light Section FRONT for examplle....
Thats not realistic ( if you know this fact) but for a user that not know that improvisional the Warning looks 100% Real !
Good Luck !
