Is it possible to daisy chain 7 segment displays in MobiFlight Connector? If possible, how do you get by the Pin settings on the second, third and so on display. You can't use the same settings as the initial display, because they don't show up in the drop down. I believe the only way additional displays will work is to actually hardwire each into the board. Am I correct?

Thanks

Short answer yes. I’ll post a link to you a little later. You can daisy chain them with using the supplied pin connectors, or cut the ends off, then solder the wires as required, following the diagram I’ll post for you.

This link should get you there. Using my phone at the moment which is a bit difficult, but I’ll do better later on the pc.

Thanks Graham.... But i think he mean the SOFTWARE Part and not the Hardware System !

@mikeatsr

You can Chain up to 8 Max7219 Tubes in a row ! Limit of used rows are 4 per Arduino. So you can use a max of 4 Rows , 4x8=32 Maxchips , 32x8=256 Diggits

To set this you must create a Device.... Type "LED 7 Segment" and there is a Dropdown for the 3 Lines ( Define a pin each) AND there is a additional Dropdown to the right called NUM.
Here you must define how many Maxtubes are used in this "chain" . (1 for a single Tube .... up to 8 )
In lower line you can set a "name" for the hole chain..... Naming each single Tube in the chain is not possible... the hole chain got THIS name.

In the Configs you must now choose tho follow....
Set in a output config as device "Display Module" ..... In the First Dropdown you can choose between all existing 7 Segment Devices/chains ... Here you use the name you set before.
And right of this Dropdown ther is another dropdown ( shown with a "/" between) .... HERE you must say what Module in the chain you like. 1 , 2 3 or how many you have set before !

Additional Note !!!! The 5V must be cabled to each Display directly from Arduino OR you have to remove the diode on the Maxtubes... Chaining the 5v from tube to tube is not possible in case of a building error in the Maxtubes !

****
I hope THATS what you asking for...... If not please explane what you need again !
Good Luck !

Thank you for this post. It should become a sticky, it is that important especially about the power for the MAX7219.
