I've had good success using Arduino Megas, but not so much with Micro Pros.

Anyone out there using any cheap Chinese Micro clones successfully? The ones I have aren't recognized by MH, so I edited the source code to add support for the VID/PID of my clones. But when I flash the firmware to them, I get USB errors (or nothing at all) when I plug them in.

I played around with the Firmware source code, and realized if I run them with the DEBUG pre processor value defined, the modules flash ok and seem to run...however then I cannot get my 7-segment modules to work. I tried removing the LCD code (which I don't need) to free up memory. I've tried a bunch of other things, but still can't get it to fully work.

Anyone out there have better luck with these than I do?

Hi Chris,

Your effort is certainly worth all honor, but MobiFlight is so far designed exclusively for the MEGA. The UNO was once on the agenda, but then it was only experimental and the support was discontinued.

Unfortunately, your MicroPro is not suitable for running with MobiFlight, MobiFlight does not recognize it.

If you want to continue working with the MicroPro, this is not the right forum for you, but if you want to work with the MEGA and MobiFlight, then you are of course welcome.

Many thanks, Stephan.

May I suggest that you remove or update the references to the MicroPro on the hardware pages (even if you leave it in the source code)? Might prevent others from wasting an afternoon trying to get it to work. Specifically this part

Supported modules
The following arduino modules are currently supported:

Arduino Mega 2560 R3 or compatible board
Sparkfun Micro Pro or compatible board_

on https://www.mobiflight.com/en/documentation/module.html

Reading through the source code for the .NET and arduino, your approach to this whole problem makes a lot of sense to me, and the effort you put in to make it configurable (rather than just work for your particular setup) is impressive.

Hi Chris,

The origin of the pages is far behind and there was no time to update them.

In order not to give a false impression here, I had nothing to do with the programming of MobiFlight. (Unfortunately). My programming skills are rather modest.

The merit of MobiFlight belongs solely to Sebastian, who has developed and realized this for all of us.

Basically we are all "just users", more or less ambitious and experienced, who enjoy helping others with the realization of their own home cockpit (or parts of it).

It remains up to you to bring in here.

Hi Chris.

I see your right....
I work with Mobiflight since 2-3 Years and a startup to make support for other users... But your the first user until now , that say he use this board (All other use Megas )
So its a intersting Question..... I don´t know if the MicroPro is still supported or if this is just a relict in the Text and Firmware is only for Mega since long time.

BUT:

Important Note:
If you start to manipulate the code of Mobiflight by yourself then a support is not longer possible.
Myself i´m not a programmer ( Only Sebatian is writing the code) .... So i can only help you with problems based on the regulary release version !

So in simple words.... if you change the code.... You must know youreself what you did and you must handle your problems yourself !
Other way... If you like, talk to Sebastian yourself about your intentions... Maby you can help via Open source to make Mobiflight more useable.
Good Luck !
