Hi Lewis,

welcome to MobiFlight!

I think, your question is a bit too global. Here are a lot of users who can help you with your problem. But then you have to specify your question(s).

First of all you should know the difference between an offset and an EventID. Lists you can find in your FSX-root-folder\modules\FSUIPC Documents. Missing lists you can search within this forum. That's the basics.

After that you should read the Documentation of MobiFlight.

A good way to get to know MobiFlight is to work through the tutorials. You'll need a breadboard, an Arduino MEGA (also a clone), a couple of connectors, some switches (ON-OFF, ON-OFF-ON), some resistors (about 470 Ω), colorful LEDs, a rotary switch , a stepper motor and/or a servo and an encoder. If you want to display numbers from the Sim, you should also get MAX7219-based LED displays (found on ebay less than 2$ each) and an LCD display.

Once you've worked through the tutorials with these components, you already have a broad knowledge base that you can use to start building cockpit elements.
Of course, if you have questions while learning or building, you can put them here in the forum and there will be many users here who will gladly give you answers so that your new hobby is crowned with success.

I hope you can now understand why your initial question is a bit too global. You're sure to be faced with lots of problems, but if you follow my advice, you'll already be getting a lot of work done. Those who are still open, will certainly be solved here in the forum.

Happy New Year!
Grüße,

Hi Lewis,

I am sure that what you intend to do is possible. The overhead has already been realized by some users.

But, and I think, but this is important: there will hardly find anyone here who will present you a ready-made solution that you can easily copy. What if there are problems that you can not solve for lack of experience? You contact the creator of your solution to solve your problem.

Why not get some experience with MobiFlight yourself by working through the tutorials and tutorials? With these experiences, you will be able to build 80% of your overhead without help from others.

If you go to such a complex area as the overhead without any prior knowledge, I think you will fail. That's why you should take my advice to first gain some experience handling the parts.

MobiFlight is easy to learn and you will soon be able to realize your project.

You can serve here through the forum, but you will not find anyone who like you jumped into the cold water, without knowing what temperature and depth it has. So again my recommendation to learn the basics and understand and only then to tackle the realization
Grüße,
