Hi,
I'm using a LCD with MobiFlight for the overhead electric panel of my 737NGX cockpit based in the PMDG one.
How can I put blank spaces if there is no electric input?
I am using a precondition with a boolean based in offset 6475 for leds and so on but I haven`t been able to configure it for LCD.
I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,

José

Hi

Blank Spaces should be possible....
But Then you have the problem that Display is lighting up, too. It show nothing but is is illuminated.

It is not posible i think to completly OFF the Display ( Dark) .... If you Cut the Power ( with a relais for example) then after repower it there is a issue... You have to restart the Arduino and Mobiflight then.

For only BLANK the Diggits with Spaces you can work with preconditions as well.

Simply create for example ONE Config that should show the standard Values if Function is ON.
Create another Config for the SAME LCD Display that should work if it should be blank.
Use Preconditions in Both Configs..... As you know you need a OUTPUT Config you use as indicator ( Like Readout the Battery Offset)
Then Simply Say... Config1 should only work if Output of battery is for example =1 and the Other Config for Blank should work if this offset is =0 .

The First Config work as you like ( Different Values placeholder for example.

The Second config you have to try out.... Maby it is enough if you simply use spaces in the LCD Display Field in the Configtab.... Try to make some Space signs.
( Not shure if this work)
Another way yould be to make 1 Symbol like a Star * and all the other is empty. ( This must work but then a "*" is shown.
Last way....
You set this config already to a fake offset automaticly like 0000
Simply make a Compare and say IF Value = 1 THEN "Spacebar" ELSE "Spacebar" ( Spacebar means you push 1 time Space button in the lines)
THEN Fill up the full Display with $$$$$$$$$$$ Signs....
A $ Sign here means a Spacebar.... So The Display should be complete blank now.

Please try out and report experience for other users !
Good Luck !

Hi guys,

I think that could be possible to switch off the LCD.

On the IIC-Interface in the near of the LED is a jumper. If the jumper is installed the LCD is working. If you pull the jumper off ONLY the dispaly background illumination is off. You do not need to reset MF or the MEGA. Although you can still easily see the content of the display, but the darker the environment, the darker the LCD remains

This allows you to remove the jumper and control it via a relay that is controlled via an EventID, for example the battery switch.
Whether this is also possible, if only the supply voltage of the display is removed, one can experimentally determine.

Ok... Nice Input !

I just try to remove the 5v wire from Arduino to IC2 Socket.... this occures in a complete "OFF" of the hole Display.... But correct... if you find a way to disable the "backlight" without disable the hole controller that is the solution....

To prevent a dimmed Shown Data on the now non illuminated display the "blank Config" is allready needed.... But maby in Combination with a Relay it will look like completly OFF !

Thank you Stephan for this idea !
Good Luck !
