Hello from America! A new Mobi user here. Nice piece of work. Thanks.

Will there be any support for matrix keypads in the future? Seems that would be a prime item for cockpits.I know I need it.

Welcome to Mobiflight !

I know a guy in the past said he want to implement this by open source... But as i know he stops working without comment.
At the moment i think Sebastian not work on a system like this.

Primary Policy from Mobiflight is to implement features that needed for a Homecockpit AND not possible at the moment.

So a Matrix keyboard or Matrix LED Outputs are NOT primary needed.
I agree THIS would be a cool feature.... BUT. Without a limit of used Arduinos you can build for example 1000 Switches simply with 20 Mobiflight Boards. Or 2000 with 40.
The Price for a Mega is below 10$ and the Number is not limited..... So i think everybody can Build a cheap compelte Cockpit (Jet 737/A320 i.e.) WITHOUT Matrix technics.

MABY this will come in the future.... But at the moment i think primary targets are other things aslong Sebastian will not say different facts.... Sorry !

.
Good Luck !

Thanks for the reply, I have a Mega and have most of my devices plugged in including the matrix keypad. Unless I am missing somehing there is only about 10-12 lines of code needed to implement the keypad and one library file. what's the problem? Without additional devices added to Mobi, there will be a migration to some other software/hardware.

The Problem is..... Everybody like another System.
If we work with a shift Register for example then only ONE Type is supported.
Another Example.... There existing lots of different 7 Segment Dispalys... All work different but result is the same. BUT every 4 Weeks some Users request we should suport
Display XXX addititonal to Max7219. Here Sebastian simply say... If you like a Display use a Max7219. If NOT you cant work with Mobiflight.

For MAtirx i see the same problematic.... If we use a 4X4 Matrix then next week there is a request for a 8x8 Matrix.... The next User like a GhostKey Detector include in the Code cause he simply is to lazy to solder some diodes in his matrix.

Again... I understand you.... And maby Sebatian Read this and change his Masterplan.

Finaly i need to say.... Mobiflight basicly was NOT designed for Inputs.... here again the main argument.... There existing lots of Freeware solutions for Inputs.... Some with Matrix logic, too. Simply Buy a Keyboard Controller for 5$ and load the Freeware "HIDMacros". there you can controll lots of buttons with only 1 USB in use.
OR You buy JoystickControllers..... ALL Inputs can be set via FSUIPC with Joystick Commands.

So as i said... There existing a way to make inputs with Mobiflight.... There existing a way to use matrix with other Software solutions (parallel use THIS Software AND mobiflight for other things) . Summary... A Cool Idea.... Maby it will come in future.... But not absolutly needed at the moment !
Good Luck !

I don't see throwing more hardware and software an acceptable solution. If Mobiflight is going to make it, it needs to be able to handle common devices that would be used in a flight sim. I would suspect more keypads than servos would be expected, but obviously not.
