Greetings all!

I'm hoping that someone here can show me what I'm doing wrong, because for the life of me I cannot get this to work...

I am setting up my 737 MCP through Mobiflight, and linking it to my Aerosoft Australia 737 glass cockpit suite. I'm having a problem with a couple of the encoders. Even though the website has a list of the dedicated offsets, I can't seem to get the altitude and vertical speed values in the correct place in Mobiflight.

Here is a link to the page with the interface instructions.

http://www.aerosoft.com.au/aerosoft_australia/interface.html

I've managed to get pretty much every other available function running, except ALT and VS encoders.... am I missing something???

Cheers from Canada,

John

Hi John

Welcome to Mobiflight.

First "good" news.... YOU did everything OK and not made a mistake yourself.....
The "bad" News .... THIS is currently not possible with Mobiflight.... And we need to find a alternate way if you like to build your cockpit with this aircraft.

******

Basicly this technic is a "DataPipe" function..... But Mobiflight NOT work directly with a DataPipe..... We still get this feature for the Airbus FMGS by Jeehell.... But it use a different Offset as your AddOn..

***
Just for information how it works. ( Only read if your interest in the technic stuff)
A Standard FSUIPC Offset for this is READ and WRITE possible..... To Set AP ALT we READ the Current Value ( For example 20.000 ft ) and then we define a math calculation in Mobiflight and say.... "With a detent of encoder ALT should be increased by 100" ... So we Use "$+100" as Input Value. ($ is internal symbol for the current Value)
Finaly Mobiflight WRITE the new generated value back to the Offset and the sim resive the new data.
IN YOUR SYSTEM it´s different.
The current Value is supported READ ONLY on Offset " 7374 - 2 Byte - INT"
But the Input Write must be done on different position with 2 Split Offsets 7370 AND 7371.
If you like to change the Altitude you need to do the follow....
1. READ 7374 and Put it in a variable ( Value is current AP Altitude /100 )
2. Calcualte the Variable like "Current value + 1" ( For 100 Feet)
3. Write the Command for Setting Altitude "1" to Offset 7370
4. Write the Parameter Value ( The Variable) to Offset 7371
Additional you need a check Logic if Offset 7370 is "Empty" on Zero before you done this, cause it not work in other case.
ALL THIS Can NOT be done by the User.... Only with a own written script OR if Sebastian implement this feature in a new Release Version.
MABY he can do this easy cause the same workflow is done for FMGS Airbus ... Only with different Offsets !

****

Finaly what you can try....
MABY the System workes with standard FSUIPC Offsets too.... I Think then maby the Value in the Virtual Display is different to yours BUT it can be possible to work internal if your lucky !
Please check the Standard Offsets for MCP Alt and VS ....

Output:
Alt: 07D4 4 Byte Int
VS: 07F2 2 Byte Int.

Input use EventID´s from the Lists.
AP ALT VAR INC 65892
AP ALT VAR DEC 65893
AP VS VAR INC 65894
AP VS VAR DEC 65895

Note you need for AP ALT Hold and AP VS to activate MABY the Original FSX Commands instead of your AddOn Commands, too.

*****
I Hope this helps. If not report experience... We try to find a way for you !
Good Luck !

Well, poop. Hahaha.

Time to get learned a little bit I guess... seriously... building a 737 flight deck is way easier than the programming side of things bahaha.

I saw a sticky here about custom lvar or lua scripts or something like that... could that be my solution?

Cheers.

Hi again.

First... i don't know this AddOn... So i don´t know it it workes via Lvars or not.

To your statement about programming difficult.... The pragramming part with a tool like Mobiflight is pretty easy.... The Problem is the AddOn software. Basicly this low budget Software like Aerosoft is not build to make homecockpits... So the workarround is sometimes more difficult to get informations the programm itsels not realy wan´t to support.
A HighEnd Software like Prosim/Magenta is designed specialy for Homecockpits.... There is a much better support ! BUT This software costs up to 1000$

Additional note.... In the past a cockpit builder always need to lear programming.... In a time before Mobiflight and OpenCockpits there was no Tool existing ! so everybody needs to write the hole programm himself.
With a own script this situation from your problem is easy solved... Cause you simply write the code like i explane !
For Mobiflight this is difficult. If we make for every AddOn a own integrated solution then the software is verry complex finaly and much more difficult !

BUT...
Before you think about own scripting please stay a bit patient if possible.
I talk to Sebastian already about your problem and he will comment this himself. MABY he can help you to simply modifiy the Mobiflight Files so the Jeehell DataPipe (thats already a part of Mobiflight) will work for your AddOn software, too in the future,
IF NOT then we can think about a alternate... maby a own scripting.
Good Luck !

That sounds great :) I was only partly kidding about the programming part - actually, Mobiflight has been an AWESOME tool to work with. You are correct - it's the Aerosoft part of the equation that is the problem :)

I appreciate your feedback though and I'm looking forward to seeing what Sebastian thinks of this whole thing :)

Cheers
