What about a matrix, for leds !

https://www.amazon.ca/MAUSAN-MAX7219-Display-Control-Arduino/dp/B0711LZSY8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1502760208&sr=8-6&keywords=arduino+dot+matrix

It could be easy to do it, with only five cables and one resistance, we could drive 32 leds, and if we chain it, it could be 64 without any probleme.

But for that, you shoud add a type of device to your software, like "MATRIXLED"

Each led could be ON or OFF, with one arduino you could drive much more leds.

In fact, it's just a 7219CNG as a matrix for Led !

Sorry for my English, I'm French !

Hi
At First THANK YOU for your inspiration !
But at the moment this is not in Planing....

We already use Max7219 for our 7 Segment Displays....

By the Way your wrong... ONE Max7219 can already controll 64 LED without Chaining...... ( Not 32 as you said)

So your right.... Theroetic we can controll 2048 LED With only one Arduino ( 64 per Max.... 8 Max in a Daisy Chain Row.... 4 Rows on Ardiono)

BUT:

Sebastian work another way... He not limmited the number of Arduinos..... Even in a full B737/ A320 Cockpit we need maby 300- 400 LED.
This Measn with 50 Max LED on one Arduino we can build this with maximum 10 Arduinos.

I think it´s not usefull to build difficult Matrix Setups when we can use simply some Arduinos more.... Additional Costs of maby 60$ for a full cokpit... But no diffucult work... Clear and Easy Configs and wire logic, and so on.

Finaly....
With the Max Matrix Technic you can only use Low Current LED.... Without this you can use 20ma Bright LED.
AND....
Your requested technic need a complete rework of the Max7219 Logic in Mobiflight....
Mobiflight works with the "Code B Font" System.... Then it need to work Bitwise.

******

So Sebastian can comment this himself.... Maby he planing with this in the future.... For Me personaly this is not needet at the moment !
Good Luck !
