Greetings all,
I’m migrating over to MF from Simvim. I have a full front cockpit of an F-101 Voodoo that I’ve developed an accurate flight model for in Xplane. I’ve modified original “steam” gauges to operate using x27 stepper motors, which work well for this because of their size..
I’ve been able to have them operate with Xplane using the Simvim platform but am limited to the number of steppers I can use as well as a few other issues.
I understand that with MF Im not limited at all which is fantastic and I believe I understand the architecture of how MF works.
My question is this: I’ve built several driver boards using Vid 6606 driver chips as detailed on this Simvim page https://realsimcontrol.com/io_step.html

Each stepper motor has a dedicated step line but there’s only one Dir line per 4 steppers (the number of motors driven by each driver). Is it possible to use this driver arrangement with MF using Arduino 2560’s? I’m trying to plan the change in hardware I’m going to have to do to make my sim work with MF. Thanks in advance for your help.

I found the answer over on the Discord server.
I need to modify the driver boards so that each stepper has its own DIR line, otherwise the rest of the driver board will work.
