This seems to be a software bug because it is so consistent. I have a Raspberry Pi Pico hooked up to 4 7 segment displays and various other things. Well when I first power up the usb port (I have a hub with switches) and run Mobiflight the displays don't work. Then I close Mobiflight, power off and on the USB and restart Mobiflight then the displays work. Every single time. I can then close Mobiflight, turn off and on the USB and the displays won't work again. Then I turn off and on the usb, restart Mobiflight and the displays work.

So ever other time I power the usb port the displays work. Consistently. No hardware changes, no bumping the wires, just shutting off and on the USB port.

Any thoughts? If it matters on my pico the din is connected to GP0, CS to GP1 and CLK to GP2.

Thanks

pico using 3.3V . i tried with LCD and it not working , had to use Vbus pin ( 5V ) .
for 7 seg LED , seem to work with both voltage . but i only connect x3 LED modules and i removed the diodes to avoid voltage drop .
you could have problem with voltage drop with x4 modules , so either remove the diodes or connect Vcc in parallel .
i do have other issue though . when i connect single LED to analog pins A0, A1 , A2 , it light up another LED connected to other digital pins when triggered .
it not the problem with hardware connections , since i can trigger all LED separately without MF firmware .
i wonder if you may have the same issue .

I have each display module power wired directly to the pico. I do daisy chain the ground and data pins but not the power.

Try to connect the LED modules Vcc to pico Vbus rather than 3.3V pin .
