Hi,

Running MF 9.7.0 and MSFS.
I have 4 Mega boards connected and MF is assigning a Comport for each. All baords are the same Elegoo models.
2 boards have devices configured and working (LCD are displaying MF ROCKS and the leds are Ok when testing.

2 boards where not used till i finished a nexw part of my setup.

But i cannot rename these boards : When trying a new name, all seems OK, i update the firmware ... and the name stays unchanged
Adding a new device has same effect : all the screens work as ususal but after upgrading, the devices are not installed... but i can see the LEDs on the Meg are blinking when the update is running .Flashing the card ends with combo box saying the update is OK....

So i tried to install and reinstal one of these boards, so it's now named "Arduino Mega", and noway to change his name or to add devices.

The 2 other boards who are working OK but trying to add a device on them has the same resut.

I don't know what to do.

Maybe there is a problem....
Yesterday we have a user on Discord who have by a issue 2 Boards connected and both share the same Com Port.

You say your 2 working boards have no problem..... the two other will get in trouble.
Can you please check if these 2 boards work on a individual COM Port ?

I expect.... If both by fault have same com Port MF struggle....
You upload devices to one... But MF also see the other is empty and in case of shared COm both looks as one for MF.

Maybe problem is fully different..... But thats my first thought.

So... Connect only ONE of the problematic boards.... Upload a Device and check if it work. Also remember the COM Port in use.
Then connect the other and disconnect the first.... Do also a test with a device.... And again check for COM Port.
If both have the same we have found the problem !

Bad news : i started a new config file with only the first card who uses Com 7 like ever
no way to edit his name nor to connect a device

Started with the second card who as always uses Com6 and no way to change anything.
After the combo 'update succesful' there is no device and no other name.
The card on Com7 has default name because I did a reset yesterday and the card on com6 has the usual name.

Are these the boards which didn't work? And they have no device configured?
If so, are the other two boards still working?

Could you please install version 9.6 (best in a separate folder) without! changing the firmware and check if this solves the problem?

I see that the other boards with installed devices have same behavior : no way to see an additionnal device or name change.

I'll try v 9.60 and let you know

Where can i find the V 9.60 installer please ?

If you have installed Mobiflight already before 9.7.0 was out then your MF folder include Zip files of all Versions you have installed in the past.
So you can create a new folder e.g. d:/Mobi9-6Test and copy/unpack the Zip file of v.9.6.0 there.

Overall it would be a good idea to join there. Much more easy to comunicate directly instead of this deleayed forum postings !

I HAVE INSTALLED THE 9.60 !

I see that the 2 cards that i used before have 2.40 firmware and the 2 that i added stay on 2.3. when starting with 9.7, the firmware is upgraded to 2.4, when opening with 2.3 it returns back to 2.3.

So I have have totally reset the only connected board and new serial.

To do this I restarted the soft (9.60) with a new and Empty file and it installed firmware 2.3 when starting.
Com port stays 7

Renaming the card didn't apply
Adding device didn't apply...

Have no idea what to try

I've tried the same with 9.7 and same result as with 9.6 , the only difference is firmware 2.4.

So i can reinstall a board, generate a new serial but none of the software variables can be saved or updated... and 9.6 and 9.7 have same result.

Did I understand it correct that all 4 boards are not working properly, neither with MF version 9.6 nor with 9.7? And it doesn't matter if it is firmware version 2.3.0 or 2.4.0?
If so, I have no idea for now.

This sounds pretty strange to me.

For sure there can be a problem.... But maybe we also talk about different things.

If possible.... Please join Discord. Install it on the Flight Sim Computer.
Maybe the key is, when we can see what happen.
There you can share your screen and we can check every single step, same way as we would stand behind you.

I will not say this is the case... But we have a lot of strange issues in the past.... People report they can not create devices, but they explain it wrong and they just not can create Config Lines.... So we research 5 hours in wrong section cause users just missunderstand a basic thing.

So... It would be nice if you can join Discord and help us to better understand the behavior.
