Hello everyone.
Its great to finally get into the Mobiflight forum. I am very new to flight simulator. I am using Microsoft Flight simulator and i have been playing around with Mobiflight for a bit now. I have managed to set up an 8 digit led display but having real problems setting up an encoder that I can change the display of the Options in the 737-700 MCP.
I am trying my hand at building a MCP. But i thought i would get the setting up sorted so i know what to expect when the time comes. I have searched Youtube for the last few weeks and there is no tutorial on setting up an encoder in Mobiflight 9.7. Everything is no less that 1 year old and different from the up to date Mobiflight.
I do know how to set up by adding a device then adding the encoder. The problem is when i name the Encoder and then edit the settings and i just cant seem to get it rite?
Can anyone guide me to an up to date Mobiflight tutorial on this or maybe explain to me what to do.

Thanks to all and Kind regards.

Hi

Nothing have changed in a way it can not be done also with a 10 year old Tutorial!
So i don“t know if a actual Guide exist... But its at the end not needed basically!

Within the years we get the "Number of Detents" Feature.
Here we set ( in Mobiflight Modules/ Boards ) when we create a new Encoder Device if its a 1:1, 1:2 or 1:4 Encoder.
If you not know this... Use 1:1 and check if your encoder corectly execute 1 command per detent. If not change it to 1:2 or 1:4 whatever your encoder is.

After Upload the Encoder all is the same like in MF from 2013. You not need a additional Guide !

Create a Input Config.... Choose for the Encoder as Input Device.
Then you have a UI with 4 Tabs .... On Left, On Right, and Fast Left, Fast Right.
Simply choose for the command you like to execute !..... Same like years ago !
Good Luck !

Thank you for your reply.
I think i underestimated how good Mobiflight Is. I have successfully set up my IAS/MACH speed display and also set up the encoder to set the output numbers.
I just have 1 question.
The IAS/MACH display on my 737.700 is working great but when i get to 250 a 8 appears in the beginning of the display. looking like this : 8256.
Once above 250 the 8 does not go away and the display only goes up to 356 then stops. Once I turn the encoder decline it gets to 250 and the digit 8 in front of 250 goes away.
Also should the IAS/MACH display show numbers all the way to 999? or will the digits change when i am actually flying(maybe its because im sitting on the runway and not in the Air?)

Thank you. Kind Regards
Lewis.

Hi

This Display work different for each aircraft. In case you say B737-700 i expect we talk about PMDG.

Here i not know the actual behavior cause i not use the FS2020 Version. Maybe its already a little different to the old ones.....

Old Logic....
Display can show in MACH Mode a Value of .00 to .99 (Whatever the lower and higher numbers are not used in real)
In IAS Mode it show Knots from 100 to something like 360 ....
Logical it can not show something like 999 or 600 .... These speeds would be supersonic ... A 737 Max Speed is roundabout 1000 kmh.

About the "8"

Maybe its a issue in your config OR PMDG also include the Over/Underspeed Logic in there Variable....
Check the Virtual Display !
In Real it have a additional Diggit to the Left.... It show a "A" and a "B" Vor Overspeed and Underspeed Warning.
A "B" is shown on a 7Seg Display same like a "8" ....
So "maybe" this 8 is the Overspeed Warning !
Confirm by check virtual Display.... If it also show a Blinking B left of the Speed when you reach the 250 kts then you got your awnser.
Good Luck !
