Didn't really have to think twice about writing something about this all repeated attempts with these junk displays of 7-segment DPs! Stopped in a disaster! I don't even want to know how many of these China crap parts I've thrown in the bin in the last few years!! That’s the buttom of the barrel! Junk!

And no, it is NOT a 60cm error, as is so popular!! The connections are 1a - at least as far as own wiring is concerned! That's it!! Yes, and re-soldering helped and only for underground quantities! Ergo: The biggest rubbish!! The ones that worked gradually dropped out one by one! Got a tie...and a very big one...!!

At this point I would like to expressly mention that the Arcaze Digits on the Arcaze/DP driver boards from past then (>15 years) run til today perfectly without any interruptions!!! Should someone understand!!

Hhhm.

I can say.... My diggits work. For sure yes. More then 50% need a special care..... So Desolder of the manifactur Connectors and a clean own solderwork was needed....
So maby 10-20 Min worktime for each Display is needed..... But then ( my stuff) was work fine.

Whatever.... In case a professional Cockpit not use 8 Digit Blocks we need at the end a own system ( former wirework) to make it perfect.
Means if we use own Displays then its not a perfect idea to wire them to a MaxTube with removed Displays.... Just to avoid handling the Max Chips itself.

Thats why we start to use PCB`s.

E.g. this.... https://shop.mobiflight.com/product/max7219-breakout-system
So we build a PCB ourself where we can mount 4 cheap "raw" Max Chips and the needed diodes and resistors.
It also include IDC Connectors for up to 2 Displays per MaxChip.

On the other side we sell Display PCB´s for 3,4,5,6 Digits including the Displays, the PCB and the IDC Connector.

For example.... a B737 MCP.
You buy 1 Max Board with 3 MAx Chips .... You buy 3x3 , 1x4 2x5 Displays/Boards and the needed Flatwire and Connectors.
Then you solder the 3 Chips on the Max Board and the Digits on the Display boards and you have to build the flat wires.
At the end.... Just a 5 Wire Conection from Maxboard to Arduino Mega.... All other conections are done with clean Flat wire and PCB.

For sure a little more expensive like the MaxTubes.... But pretty less worktime and a perfect system !
Good Luck !

Servus Peter,

die native language Version lasse ich mal weg, …

demnach nur in eng:

Much more than 50% and all the work on all these ++NEW++ crap boards, which aren't exactly cheap, based on quantity and usage, can’t be like that. I still find the Arcaze Display-Board solution very good, which still runs perfectly without any interruptions and that til today. Unfortunately, Mr. Schirrmann from simple solution did not continue here.

https://arcaze.de

https://arcaze.de/produkt-kategorie/module/

I think this

https://shop.mobiflight.com/product/max7219-breakout-system

is a good solution which also I guess it comes as a kit set. For me I found another solution. By the way i was able to drive an extra Arcaze DP extension and added another LCD. At least they run smart! I had nothing to do with electronics in the previous years. Nor did I deal with it job-wise. All by the way.

The SIOC solutions are rather fixed to which one is bound. Stephan recognized that already in 2018.

I think the developments continue in pretty short time. But the aforementioned (NEW-Items) max-tube, that’s junk at all related on this high rate of malfunctioning!!

Finally, read you five!

Hau rein!

I have no actual informations about the Arcaze Situation....
My last info is that Arcaze is death.... No new things planed and also nothing anymore available.

I agree. If your happy with arcaze all is fine. But i think we can not recommend this as solution in case these products are no longer produced.

If i´m wrong here.... Sorry for that.
Good Luck !

About the Arcaze Situation, so indeed, I have no other information either. Unfortunately, the sale there of the current elements does not seem to work very well. But uncapable to confirm.

To understand overall was meant (just of inferability) that 15 years ago a stable solution was made. Those weird 7-segment boards from today (to make a comparison at this point) don't come close.

It also cannot be the case that you have to strictly disassemble this new bought goods, in that case these aforementioned 7-segment-brds.-DP’s.

PropWash another company once came up with a great solution, but haven't seen this from this time. (PropWash Simulation Radio v1.1 Bendix-King Style - orange digits)

Furthermore it wasn't my intention that everyone bet on Arcaze here. Rather the comparison that decades ago there were better things in this specific sector, e.g. Arcaze Display Board, Power Modul and LED Driver.

Things will fall into place. Thx.

Stay tuned, asap
