I have connected a 8 digit max2719 tube directly to the arduino board and configured it to display IAS and Heading.
IT works perfectly for some time but after some time the display goes blank.

It comes back only when I stop mobiflight, unplug the usb from ARduino and then plug it in again and restart mobiflight.

I am trying with default MS aircraft. The same hardware works well with other Ardunio projects.
Any idea how to fix this?

thanks in advance

How Long is the time until the Max is going blank ???

I got no experience in that thematic, but i read that Maxmodule got a function, that Display goes Blank, when no "new" Data is loaded for a "longer" time.
So if you fly in Autopilot and stay on same Heading and Speed for maby xxx Minutes the Max wouldn´t get updated for long interval.

Just a assumption.... Maby advanced users can tell you more about this !
Good Luck !

The time out is 15 minutes and as long as MobiFlight is running it should not occur because even in case there is no data update necessary every 5 seconds there is a stay awake message sent to each connected module.
Have a great day!

OK.
then it´s not a Automatic Shutdown.

Got a similar issue in the Past.....

If you own some other Max Tubes please test another. I bought losts of tubes from China and the Pin Header on the 5 Pin Left/Right connectors looks perfect soldered.... BUT they wasn´t. Need to solder it again myself. Shown bug was the same like youres ( Blanked Display or 8888888)

So please test different Displaytubes if you got some more.
Good Luck !

I ordered a few more MAX 2719 LED tubes and tried and this works great. You can happily mark this thread as [Resolved]

Hi, I have the same problem. I am using 2 mega 2560 cards for a radio panel. The 7-segment displays on one card always go blank after 15 minutes and not on the other. I built a second panel using new arduinos and 7-segment tubes and the same result after 15 minutes. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

Apollogy we not announce this puplic already.

Your problem is correctly the same like above in the 5 year old Topic....
That time we build in a mechanic that prevent this issue.

But by mistake while we rework the 7Seg Blank feature in last Release 9.5 we disable this feature by fault.
Badly only some very rare users are involved . E.g. User who have no LED same time on the board.
So we not notice this issue within the BETA Testings.

Summary:
Problem is known and confirmed . We still solve it and testings are good.
Expect a hotfix ( or a solve within the Beta Release) within the next days.

Until then....
Just get sure you make a Input that occure in a change of that Mega a minimum of one time within 15 Minutes.
So e.g. turn the COM Encoder every 10 Minutes by 1 detent to Left and one detent back to right.
This send a Signal and the Timer starts for new.

A nice workarround is to create a LED Output ( without need to have a real LED)
The LED Code still include the "KeepAlive" Command that prevent you from the issue !
So if Mobiflight "think" there is also a LED on that Board (Used by a Config) it will send coorectly the call!

And for sure.... With the Hotfix you not need this workarround anymore. Then all is fine again !
