But True !

I talk to a lot of Real Life Captains.... Most say they enjoy Airbus Logics in case they simply state of the art !

But for a cockpitbuilder and a Sim Captain ( who have more fun to startup a aircraft from cold and dark as to do a 6 Hours simulated flight) i will say....
A Boeing 737-800 with still a lot of analog gauges, with solonoid controlled switches and with 50-60 Manual Switch/Button Inputs from C&D to Engine Running is much much much more fun !

Please remember.... We not fly in real. Our fun is to handle the Home Cockpit. It make no sense to rebuild 100 working Inputs , where 95 are
used only in Emergencys ( Like Airbus)
We like to work with our hands and use the Buttons we build. So ( for me) a old DC9 or also a B737 is more usefull as a Aribus A380 !
Good Luck !

Ups, i forgot.....:D

Honestly, i think it depends on one personal "needs".
I for myself like to start it up, start e.g. in Frankfurt/M., climb to travel alt and then let the AP do the rest.
I go to work for some hours and when turning back home i land e.g. at JFK.

That's what brings fun and joy to me. Therefore i build my kind of a Home Cockpit (of course with mobiflight, what else), but not 100% realistic.
First, it reflects the FSX stock Airbus which is not 100% copied from the real one and second, i do not have the space available for a 1:1 cockpit (although i would like to have one). Advantage: it is mobile.

Sneak preview what V2 of my cockpit will look like:

But as this is my "bad weather hobby" it'll take quite some months until i will have it done.

I understand you basic intention.... And i meet a lot of Sim Captains who do it same way....
But i finally not understand the logic behind.....

Make Flight Plannigns from EDDF to KJFK .... Do the Startup , fly the takeoff and then let the Sim alone for 6 Hours to do the Landing in New York ???

Here i would say.... Why not fly from e.g. Washington a short 40 minutes Flight to JFK or if you like the both Airports .... Make a takeoff from EDDF but reduce fuel for the trip by 90%
After reach Cruise Alt then move the Aircraft by menue to a position 100 miles our of KJFK , press pause, Setup the FMC and then fly the last 30 Mins from TOD to Touchdown.

I know.... Everybody like they wants..... For me its just a little strange.
Good Luck !

That's the way i did it in the past. But as the PC has to be on anyway....why not flying in realtime?

One advantage here: i can say to my colleagues "sorry, have to leave for an important date" to go back in the cockpi in time :D

Yeah.
Thats an argument !

Here PMDG have a very nice feature .
It have a Option in the PMDG Settings tab to "pause" the game automatically 5 Minutes ( or was it 5 nautical miles) before ToD.
So its no mater if you miss the moment and arrive home 2 hours later.... It stands ready for the Aproach !

Just one fact.... Not try this "online". The guys from Ivao or VatSim will not be happy about that !
Good Luck !
