Will these 1602 OLED modules work with Mobi?

Hooked up the i2c but won't work.

Other older style LCD module will light up with the i2C.

So don't know if the OLED board is broken or incompatible.

I´m not advanced here.
The link is a little confusing to me.

Most OLED i saw till now from other user requests was high resolution Displays with a full area of pixels. Means we can not only show 2x16 Chars... We can show a picture in theory, use different fonts and so on.
The LCD we normaly use have no full area with pixels.... they have e.g. 16x2 so 32 single Fields where exactly one char can be shown each.
( for example those areas have something like 8*8 single Pixel per field )

Your linked displays looks more like the LCD ( and there is also the word LCD in description).

maybe a other user can help better. For me they look like regular LCD ..... Why should a OLED be limited to 16x2 ?

These displays use a KS0066 controller which should be compatible with the HD44780 used in the suported LCD displays. But I wouldn't bet that it will work. I know from the past that there could be some issues with a sligthly different init sequence. Whereby I think these displays "only" emulate a KS0066 controller as they are using an OLED display instead of a LCD.
I had a short look into the datasheet, operating voltage with 5V is OK and PullUp on the I2C lines are also existing. So a deeper look into the datasheet might be required to check full compatibility.

Yes, I have one like this and it works great. Only disadvantage is the size of it for my particular panel. The other one would be ideal, but have made the panel bigger.

This is interesting that it uses the same controller. Not a huge worry as the other one works but not as ideal given the slightly bigger size.

The LCDs MF support have an I2C to 8bit I/O controller to communicate with the parallel interface from the HD44780. So the I2C commands of this I/O controller is needed.
The OLEDs you use have a direct I2C interface where the required commands for the display controller can directly be send.
