If i set up Mobiflight for some homemade DIY switches and such, will the same setup run on MSFS2020 and X Plane 11 OR do I have to have two separate setups for the two simulators?

Working on a Cessna 172 sim and building the switch panel, trim, fuel selector, and stater switch to be controlled via Arduinos and Mobiflight.

Also using Logitech pedals, TQ, and yoke. Using Air manager for main instruments and perhaps radio stack.

Thanks

Correct. Thats the Idea. Done by using multiple MCC Files.

Its also not only the 2 Simulators.... Also 2 Aircrafts in one Sim mostly use this theory and you work with 2 Files.

Reason.... Simple cause e.g. Xplane and FS2020 use 2 fully different ways to talk with the Sim.
Also e.g. a Cessna and a B737 will use in a lot of elements different Commands. Specially if we talk about AddOns.
Lets say you build a Cockpit for B737 and you use Stock737, PMDG and ProSim. each one will have fully there own Commands. Maybe just some basic things like Parking BRake is global and used by all 3.... But for sure the MCP Altitude will be fullly indivudal and all 3 aircrafts will have there own Variable for this.

***

Easy way to do.....
Simply build at first one BASIC Config file. Not related to a special Aircraft or Sim. Just to have all the Elements.... Like e.g. a single Input Config for every single Switch you like to use.... Correctly named.... And select the correct Device.
Then you SAVE this file e.g. as BASIC.mcc.
Load it again and now make SAVE AS and call it now "C172 Xplane.mcc"
THEN you make all the specific settings for the Xplane situation on C172.
After finish it you load the Basic file again and build the next... e.g. C152 for FS2020.

For sure oyu can also build one fully config for C172 and use this as "base" for the rework to a other aircraft. Usefull e.g. if only a few elements are different like a Config for C152 and C172 both FS2020.

At the End....

If you like to fly you choose your Sim and your Aircraft.... And while the 30 Seconds until your flight Load..... Open MF and select the correct MCC File and press RUN.
Good Luck !
