I am trying to use the potentiometers to change dimming of lights in the Cessna 172S but they just work in one way. i.e. either decrese or increase not in both ways.
If I configure throttle it works fine!?
Like:
@ 16383 1023 / * 16 max 16383 min (>K:THROTTLE1_SET)

But same hw configured to regulate LIGHT_POTENTIOMETER_SET does not work
@ 16383 1023 / * 16 max 16383 min (>K:LIGHT_POTENTIOMETER_SET)

Or the config in MobiFlight where there is C_172_PEDESTRAL_LIGHT_DEC and C_172_PEDESTRAL_LIGHT_INC
(L:LIGHTING_PEDESTRAL_1) 5 + 100 min d (>L:LIGHTING_PEDESTRAL_1) 1 (>K:2:PEDESTRAL_LIGHTS_POWER_SETTING_SET)

I do not see how I can get it to go both ways

Hi

The last INC and DEC Events are pretty sure for Encoders .... Not Poti.
A Poti always "SET" a Value .... It can not Inc or Dec ... These 2 seperate Commands need a Device with 2 Signals like a Encoder or two Buttons.

Let me ask.... Where do you get the second Code ?

@ 16383 1023 / * 16 max 16383 min (>K:LIGHT_POTENTIOMETER_SET)

Never see this before.
Good Luck !

Just testing a bit and found that it dimms the lights out.

OK.

Do you know if this Offset/Variable work with a range of 0-16383 ?

Cause the used Code is build to convert our 0-1023 Poti into a Range of 0-16383 like used in Throttle or Flaps.

If the Light Value e.g. is 0-100 ( Represent Percent %) then it not work.

This "SET" Offset means we write a Integer Value to it. So we at the end just need to know whats the range of this Variable.
e.g. 0-100 , 0-255 , 0-1023 or so on.
then it will work pretty sure !
Good Luck !

Using FSUICP I can see the variable (Lvars as LIGHTING_PEDESTRAL_1 for my target to work with). The range is 0-100.
My potentiometer gives values betwen 17-1022.
So as I understand it would be like this according to hubhop:
@ 17 - 10.05 / 0 max 100 min (>K:LIGHTING_PEDESTRAL_1)

This does not work though.

The following can be found https://docs.flightsimulator.com/html/Programming_Tools/Event_IDs/Aircraft_Electrical_Events.htm
PEDESTRAL_LIGHTS_POWER_SETTING_SET
[0] pedestal light circuit index
[1] power setting (%)

Set pedestal light circuit power setting. Takes two indices, the circuit and the power setting (see SimVars And Keys for more

Solved it!
Potentiometer to control dimming in Cessna 172
@ 17 - 10.05 / 0 max 100 min d (>L:LIGHTING_PEDESTRAL_1) 1 (>K:2:PEDESTRAL_LIGHTS_POWER_SETTING_SET)

This works for two of the potentiometers
STBY IND
@ 17 - 10.05 / 0 max 100 min d (>L:LIGHTING_PANEL_1) 1 (>K:2:PANEL_LIGHTS_POWER_SETTING_SET)
Pedestal
@ 17 - 10.05 / 0 max 100 min d (>L:LIGHTING_PEDESTRAL_1) 1 (>K:2:PEDESTRAL_LIGHTS_POWER_SETTING_SET)

But SW/CB uses LIGHTING_POTENTIOMETER_3
Avionics uses LIGHTING_POTENTIOMETER_4
I cannot find the coresponding "K" value for them, I have tried
@ 17 - 10.05 / 0 max 100 min d (>L:LIGHTING_POTENTIOMETER_3_SET) 3 (>K:2:LIGHT_POTENTIOMETER_SET)
This kind of works, i.e it regulates the light but the graphics does not update in the cockpit.

Any sugestions?
