Hello,

I have a genuine A320 throttle and I would like to interface the trim wheel with Jeehell FMGS/FSUIPC/P3D

1. Is this possible using ardruno and your software?
2. And if it is, what hardware (dc motor, servo, stepper motors, encoders?) would you recommend?
3. What would be the best way to achieve the ability to have feedback to FMGS (manual trim) and autotrim?

On your software page I can see steppers and encoders are still under development.

Thank you,

Ben

Hi Ben,

I would recommend to do it like this:

* Have your trimwheel attached to a rotary encoder and assign increment/decrement actions to each direction
* Have a stepper motor configured to output the current trim position by an indicator

If you decouple the input and output that way you never have to worry about the trim setting when you load your flight. The trim position indicator can move and display the current position. The wheel can be used to control the setting.

This setup is supported nicely by Mobiflight
Have a great day!
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

Would there be any advantage using a stepper motor over a DC motor ?

Can you suggest a rotary encoder, stepper motor for this purpose?

jeehell FMGS uses FSUIPC offsets for trim values. Thank you.

You should be able to use any rotary (e.g. ALPS or no-name from ebay)
MobiFlight has been tested with the 28byj-48. You find them cheap on ebay.
Have a great day!
