Hi all,
I was having trouble getting my newly acquired rotary encoders to work and change the AP Heading Bug with it.
I bought simple encoders, but with 5 pins. Ground, Power, A, B and Click (pressing the button).

I read a lot of posts here in the forum, but could not find one that gave me the ultimate solution on how to connect and control them with MobiFlight.
Googling for two days finally showed me a picture somewhere that gave me the final solution.

On it, only the GND and 5V, and DT and CLK contacts need to be used. (At first I connected all three contacts, including the Switch).
Leaving the middle one out and using the last two as A and B, it now works (setting Heading-Bug-INC and Heading-Bug-Dec in Mobiflight), with the $-182 and $+182 offsets.

Maybe ya'll knew this already, but just in case another newbie like me comes along...... :D

These KY40 Encoders work for Mobiflight.... But they are not needed.... You can also connect a simple 3 Pin encoder to it.
In easy words.... These are to much difficult at all.

Your Issue.... CLK is not "Click" and not related to the Button.... its "CLOCK" ....
For other Aplications this is needed.

MF simply use DT and CLK same Way like with Normal Encoders the A and B Channel.
SW stands for "Switch" .... So thats the Push Button Pin.

At last... This PCB need a 5V line. Normaly Encoders would not need this... But this KY40 do.

***********

Summary: In the Future buy cheap Standard encoders.... No Problem, no thinking, and finally much more cheaper !
Good Luck !

I looked for other encoders but could not find them here in Italy. Thanks for your explanation :)
