I suspect I am being very thick, but there seems to be an assumption of knowledge which isn't necessarily there.

I am wanting to develop an instrument panel using Mobiflight but initially, for logistical reasons, on a laptop (not the flight simulator pc).

I undertand that I need FSUIPC and have this (the correct version for the version of P3D I'm using). There are no idiot's guides about how to set this up. So far this idiot hasn't been able to get any of the "simple" examples in the tutorials to work.

Help....idiot's guide please.

If we talk about "older" sims.... Like P3D and FSX....
Your right.

Mobiflight can work on a Client Computer.... And like all old Sims you need FSUIPC!
BUT you additional need the WideFS Software ( also from FSUIPC´s Programmer Pete/John Dowson )

Its pretty Simple.... WideFS is installed as a Server on the Sim Computer and as a Client on the other Computer(s) . Then Mobiflight work on the other Computers SAME way.
MF not see a difference between a original FSUIPC or the WideFS Client !

***

For FS2020 its more easy.... As i know the WASM Tool ( Simconnect Interface) basically allow a Network system. Here i expect no other software is needed.
Good Luck !

I have WideFS installed also but when I start-up MF it's not seeing P3D. And, yes, I'm using and have paid for FSUIPC6 and already had WideFS from using it with FSUIPC4.

It shouldn't be a network problem, as my "instrument" pc and my development laptop both, when running AM, automatically detect and communicate with p3d on my "sim" pc.

I know I've probably missed something very simple and it'll suddenly fall into place, but at the moment, when I'm poised to think MF may be a very good thing.....It isn't for me.

I think so many applications are documented by people who know them inside our and fail to see how someone who doesn't can have problems even getting started.

For example...The YouTube video on getting started doesn't actually go into setting the environment up for the software.

You need to check/cinfirm the compability.....

FSUIPC have multiple Licences....
FSUIPC 3 (FS2004) FSUIPC4 (FSX) FSUIPC5 (P3Dv4,x and prior) .... FSUIPC6 ( P3d V4,x and v5) and FSUIPC7 (FS2020)
It also have as far is i known multiple WideFS Versions. But from my knowledge you own all WideFS Versions by buy one licence.... But you maybe need to load the correct one related to your FSUIPC.

So i think the FSUIPC Support is the better adress for you !
Good Luck !

FSUIPC6 which works with P3D 4 & 5 requires separate licencing. The WideFS licence I got for the FSUIPC4 version covers the new one. It may be that I have a mismatch in actual software though, as you suggest. I'll check later on.
