Hi

I´m finishing a big proyect with my arduino MEGA and Mobiflight and at the end, I get a problem:

I´m using 16 LEDS and 24 Buttons, but I only can make to run 38. I read that mobifligh only admit 40. The question is. how can I use all the pins of my arduino?. At last 2 more, please. I´m working with it several weks and I need it.

Thanks.

it is 40 leds and 40 buttons. It should not be a problem to assign your buttons and leds.
How do you tell that it does not work?
Have a great day!

Thanks

As I told you I´ve now 16 LEDS and 24 buttons connected, but when I try to connect the 41th, it doesn´t work. And If I delete one connected it´s working...

As I wrote to you, Mobiflight it´s a great piece of SW, but I can tell you that I´m fighting strong with it and, perhaps because a bad method mine, I´ve a lots of problems. I don´t know if the problem is because I´ve too much leds and buttons in my project. I can rebember that at the beggining I´ve not problems at all.

Ok, friend. I´ll continue working.

Best regards, and thank you about your help.

This might be a misunderstanding

It is 40 buttons and 40 leds. It does not mean in total 40.

What does "It doesn't work" mean?

How do you power your arduino? Is it with USB cable only or do you have an additional power supply?
Have a great day!

Hi Sebastian,

I am using 17 leds (3mm) and 6 buttons on a Mega card, power from USB only.
Is that enough ? I dont know why Mobiflight lost control of LEDs/button after an hour. I have to remove the USB from Adruino, reconnect, re-upload firmware to make it work again.
My question is that necessary to power the Adruino with an external 5v ?
Thanks,
Vu

Your setup should work without external power supply.

It should never be necessary to reupload neither the firmware nor the configuration. In case Mobiflight stops working you should only have to restart Mobiflight.
Have a great day!

It's 40 buttons and 40 leds per each board or this 40 btn and 40 leds are the total that can be used with Mobiflight.

Because i'm making a full Overhead and MIP of a PMDG 737 home cockpit and wil take more then 150 leds for the full project.

By the way, please if there is any way to fix the need for duplicate lines to have leds OFF when battery is turned off.

"By the way, please if there is any way to fix the need for duplicate lines to have leds OFF when battery is turned off."

Sample
Fuel Pomp Aft Dublicate row
Fuel Pomp Aft Precondition Master=1 (And)

Fuel Pomp Aft Copy:
Precondition Master = 0(And)
Compare
If current Value is = 0
set it to=0
Else set it to=0

My project have now 9 boards and aprox. 350 pins in use.

But MF is not starting anymore, i have to delete the config file and open MF and then load the config to get it to work

Sorry to jump in here but it seems to me that 2 problems could be causing some of these problems.

1 - USB power management, particularly in Windows 10, can shut down some USB ports EVEN if they are in use.

This link is in reference to a USB mouse problem, but the central problem is the same - USB Power Management;
How To Fix Wireless USB Mouse Disconnecting In Windows 10

Special note - Sometimes after a Windows 10 upgrade, your USB settings can be reset by MS to the power saving mode.

2 - Switches in themselves don't use much power, but the LEDs do. The Arduinos should be plugged directly into the computer, or a POWERED USB port.

On some setups, I've found that a separate power supply for the positive and negative circuit can be the difference between success and failure. It all depends on how much power you need, but frequently the power TO the Arduino, even from a powered HUB, won't be enough.
