Hi, I am new to Mobiflight and I am experimenting with the tutorials. My first try is with the 7 segment LED. I followed the instructions on the tutorial, but when I press the test button, nothing happens.
A couple of things to note. The LEDs all light up as the number 8, but do not change to 1,2,3,4, 5,6 7, 8, when I press the test button as per the tutorial. I also noticed that when I press the test button to Run, and even Stop for that matter, a small LED light next to the letters RX, flash for a second  on the Mega2560 board, as soon as I press either Run or Stop.
The last thing to note, is that I set it up in FSUIPC to work as an altimeter (altimeter measured in feet or meters)
I am running the latest Mobiflight software, 8.02
I hope that is enough information for someone to help me out.

Welcome to Mobiflight !

At first.... Uploading Pictures here in this forum is NOT possible ( very rudimentary board software) .
To share Pics you must upload them to own Webspace or Puplic File Uploaders.... And then you "link" the picture here.
BUT
Basicly we recommend all users to join our DISCORD Server Group. There sharing Pictures can be done with Drag and Drop in 1 second. And we can also share our screens and can talk together via Voice Call. Most of Problems can be solved within minutes there.

YES you still give us the needed Information..... The Key is....

The Flashing LED show us that basicly all is fine from MF side.... Display Data is send from MF Connector to Mega and also from Mega to Display !

The "88888888" Situation is your Problem !
This is a indice for a Electrical Problem....
Mostly this is a broke Solder Point ( already by manifactur ) . You have to rework/check the 5x1 Solder Connector on the Display Tubes. Mostly a little touch with solder iron and some fresh solder and it work.

NOTE: Max7219 Chips are verry sensible..... You must use fixed connections. A Testing with jumper wires and breadboards just improvisional will mostly not work.
If you touch a wire the connection is lost.
The MAX Chips get initialised at startup from Mega.
If Connection get lost ( wriggling wire) then its "broke" and need a restart.... So the Mega itself must be resetted to initialise it again.


Last hint.... Confirm your Display use 5V and GRD of the SAME Mega Board you connect the 3 Pins also.
