Hello

Im a newbie here and in sim cockpits. But im learning

I bought the 6 digit 7 segment led PCB from Simbay, to test if i could make it work in Mobiflight.

https://simbay.de/gb/overhead-electrics-pcb/72-7-simvim-com-panel-pcb.html#/26-bundle-only_pcb

But, im not getting it to work. Both pcb dont light up.
Perhaps im doing it wrong :-)

On the pcb its labelled as L S D, not like on a MAX7219 board CLK CS and DIN
I think L is CLK, S is CS and D is DIN, but am i right here?

Cant ask Julian from Simbay as he is on vaccation.

Best regards

Christian

Hi Christian,

welcome to MobiFlight!

It should be easy to assign the letters.

One should go to pin 1 of the MAX7219, that is DIN, another should go to pin 12. that is CS or LOAD and the last one should go to pin 13, that is CLK

If you want to daisy chain your boards, then connect pin 24 of the 1st Max to pin 1 of the 2nd one (DOUT -> DIN). The two other wires always goes parallel to the chips.

If I see it on the PCB photo correct, then D is DIN, L is LOAD or CS and S is CLK, SET seems to be the resistor. Why they recommend a second resistor does not reveal itself to me because this is not required according to the data sheet. According to the data sheet there is a capacitor with 0,1µF required close to pin 19 and pin 4/9 (GND).
See the data sheet page 1 and 13: https://datasheets.maximintegrated.com/en/ds/MAX7219-MAX7221.pdf
