I need to interface a wet compass (stepper motor) with MobiFlight & an Arduino card. According to the website the following arduino modules are currently supported:
Arduino Mega 2560 R3 or compatible board. Since I have only the compass I think buying a Mega 2560 card is a bit of an overkill.

Now I found this on a Dutch website: https://www.hobbyelectronica.nl/product/arduino-mega-2560-ch340g-compatibel/. So my question is, just to be sure I buy the right thing, does this qualify as a 'compatible' board?

Appreciate the help, thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Hi,

you does not purchase a brand board. These kompatible clones do the same. To work with them you also need the CH340/341 driver for these boards.

Here is the link to the driver: http://www.wch.cn/download/CH341SER_ZIP.html

You can read here a bit chinese but the important word are in western letters ;)

It´s the same "overkill" in case you use just one Motor ( 4 Pins) with a 68 Pin Board.
But thats no matter..... China Clones costs less then 10$US.

In therory you can use a MicroPro, too.... But here the firmware is not stable a.t.m.
So we recommend..... For MF use Arduino Mega R3 ! ( Whatever Clone or originals) ..... But let me say I know no cockpitbuilder who pay for original boards. We all use clones !
Good Luck !

OK guys, thx for the support. Glad there were some Western letters 'cause my Chines is getting a bit rusty.

A Mega R3 is about € 43, the clone is considerably cheaper (as long as it works, of course). So this clone it is.

Pitty there isn't a stable smaller board (with less pins).

Why not use one of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/233082740772?hash=item3644d06024:g:pAUAAOSw~HFcMa~M? It's small, has 1:1 compatibility with a big Mega and works fine with MobiFlight.
