Hi Sebastian, all,

I am not able to install MF 8.02 on my PC. During installation the app freezes and does not react or react very slow after completing the installation.
Without Arduinos connected, it is freezing at "Start connecting..." right at the beginning of the procedure.
With Arduinos connected, it is freezing at "Scanning Arduino boards"; sometimes it is trying to make a firmware upload, but this results in an error message.

The strange thing is - this is not happening on all computers. I have done several tests, trying to find a pattern here. I am still unsure, the only thing I noticed: the installation is working on machines, where MF has never been installed and/or never an Arduino board was connected. I could install it multiple times on 2 "fresh" PC's without any issue. On 2 other PC, where I used to work with MF before, the install routine always freezes.

I have deinstalled Arduino IDE, disconnected all boards and deleted the MF folder and the user/appdata/local/mobiflight folder. But always the same effect. Also I tried to copy the folders 1:1 from one of the working machines to the "problem" pc. That also showed the same effect. There must be something on these computer's environment, that is causing the freezing.

Is there anything I can look into to help circling the error? Or are there other folders, I need to delete to have a clean computer?

PS: I already started a thread a week ago (https://www.mobiflight.com/forum/topic/6435.html), but I believe, this one describes the issue better now after doing all the trial and error the last days.

That all is realy strange.
Bad i not fully know/understand what Sebastian change in each Release. I also just got the official notes and not know what part of code are reworked ( And whatever i also would not understand the code in case i´m not a professional programmer).

I got a Idea at first.... But you say you delete the "local" saved data in the appdata folder. So in theory my idea is not good.
BUT.... It would make sense maybe to Sebastian.

A Big Change in 8.0.0 was the including of "AVRDude" into Mobiflight itself... Means we no longer need the Arduino IDE to upload Elements to a Board ( Firmware and Devices) .
In the Past this Tool was inside of Arduino IDE and the PAth to that IDE was saved exactly in this "local" storrage... So a System that have installed Mobiflight will remeber to that Path also if you delete MF and install it for new some months later.

My Idea.... Maybe this is a part of the Problem. Not logical yause you say you delete this file already.
But maybe a System that used the old logic in the past also got some other Registry Entrys and now get confused if also MF include a own AVRDude.

I hope with some more reports and some users who can share Informatios he can see the issue next time and fix it.

After a lot of hours with erocfx and michael on discord, i resume what happen fast here:

First both problem are totally different problems.

for erocfx, the problem is the arduino itself, chinese copy don't use the good VID/PID, i post a solution on discord for flashing the USBserial ATMEGA16U2 with a good firmware.

For Michael, the problem is WideFsClient, he don't use the correct version, normally right now the problem is solved.

Conclusion for fast reading : Problems are not MF related.
