Hello,
I'm thinking of using a second custom arduino, as a bridge to interface the main arduino with unsupported hardware like OLED displays.
Say I want to show the IAS on an OLED, The main arduino will send to the second "bridge" arduino via "serial" a command. The bridge arduino will (using my own sketch), to accept the command and convert it to I2C to drive the OLED.

Does any one see any issue? I prefer serial as arduino mega has tons of software serial ports.

thanks,

CS

Pretty sure you will get no "tool" within mobiflight just for this request.
Sebastian said in the past that he not plan for a Mega as a "bridge" to a other board.
So not expect he will add something here.

So question is.... How do you like to recive the Data on the first Mega ?
Mobiflight only send data to a Mega Board that include the firmware.... But the firmware not include a logic to send things to a other Mega via a serial port.

I think a solution is diofficult on first view.....
In theory you can rework the Firmware by hand for your custom usage.
BUT
If you be able to do this ( so you got programming skills) then it would be much more profitable to create a own Programm ( instead or better parallel of Mobiflight) that get in connection with FSUIPC itself and request there the needed Data.... then it send the data to your OWN Mega.... And that include your own scetch to controll the Display.
Good Luck !

I could imagine you could try to use LCD output from Mobiflight and try to capture data from it on the custom Arduino, then display it on an OLED. I guess if you know how to program this, it looks doable. Remember you can only have 2 displays per MF arduino and they are limited to 6 or 7 values if I`m correct. That is 14 values. Maybe there is more data to capture if you used LED 7 Segment output from Mobiflight, max out the chains, which is 8. That gives you 8 numbers 8 digit long each (you can use 4 chains like that per Arduino) to capture and interpret on the custom arduino. I think this could work, but have no way of trying this, I`m definitely not able to program it. But, as Pizman said, if you are able to program well it is probably better to get data straight from fsuipc. Good luck!
