Where should I report bugs in the software? Ive experienced two different ways to get unhadled exceptions in 7.10.0.

1. If no Arduino board is selected and you try to add a button using the button (not rightclicking), you get an unhandled exception.
2. If you for some reason add a new output or input row and then delete the description you still can save. But youll get an unhandled exception when you later tries to load it.

Hi mattswe,

both handles are the result of human errors.

If you do not select a board why and above all why do you want to add an device without selecting a board? That does not make sense. You can ignore the error-message and continue and after selecting a board all will be fine.
The 2nd behavior is also normal. Why do you save a config without a name? That is not logica especially since you deleted the description beforehand.
In this case you can load the .mcc-file into an editor and search the config without a description. Then fill in a description of your choise, save the file, restart MF and load the file again.

MF cannot catch the last small error for which the user is responsible. Some things are just your responsibility.

Stephan (Time: UTC+2)

I agree with Stephan basicly.
We test MF Releases as best as we can.... But sure... We not try out to do "stupid" things to find out if MF got a "noob protection".

Whatever.... I will say Thank You for your report.
And i like to awnser... You can post Bugs here in Forum OR directly in the Bitbucket Page https://bitbucket.org/mobiflight/mobiflightfc/src/master/

About the next steps.....
As Stephan said. We normaly not solve those bugs with a high priority cause this are "self-inficted" issues and not occure if a user work corectly.
BUT .... It´s good to know and if Sebastian next time rework the Software and it make no big effort.... Then he can also fix those spots !

So... Thanks !
Good Luck !

Wow, sorry if I offended someone. And we have all been noobs at some time, doing "stupid" things.

Of course both are user errors. And of course, next time you start MobiFlight you wont do it again, propably. But unhandled exceptions are never nice to have. It leads to memory leaks or funky behaviour.

The first scenario is actually quite easy to trigger if you only have one board attached to MobiFlight. When you open the MF Modules tab no board is selected by default, and if you only have one board it´s not obvious that you have to first select that single one. (You can expand it without actually select it.) The exception leads to restart of the software.

The second scenario is kind of unlikely, but you can actually, accidently like I did, save a config without a description. The problem is, that if you then close MobiFlight, next time you try to start it you will receive an error and the application will refuse to start (this because it autoloads last used save, which trigger the crash). In order to start Mobiflight again you have to rename or remove the save file, which can take a while to figure out.

Anyway, thank you pizman82 for a constructive answer to my question.

I must say sorry. I hope you feel not atacked.
"noob" is no insult for me. As you say we all startup at the same point. So advanced users should not forget this fact....

We all are humans and have good days and bad days.

I will say after a longer Discord Seasson with a advanced user and a verry difficult brainstorming i feel often happy to awnser and support a fully new user with some basic stuff.
Otherwise.... If i got a day and have to explane the same thing over and over again to Beginners ( who could also simply google for there awnsers) then a request like yours come simply at the wrong moment and my awnser sounds a little condescending.

So... apollogy for that. Feel free to awnser as many questions as you like.
In germany we got a nice speach.... There are no stupid questions.... Just stupid awnsers !

.
Good Luck !
