Hello:

can I ask this: (I've been searching the forum but see no answers to this question):

When I use the Attitude : Heading in MF (Ox0580) it will give me the True North heading which I put on my LCD connected to MF.

My instrument in the cockpit however show Magnetic heading.

Is this also possible?

I found that on offset 0x02A0 the mag variation can be found so, if it would be possible to add this value to the T.North heading then it would be perfect
( as these 2 values differ in presentation I would have to make them equally before but that's no problem)

So, is adding this magnetic_variation _value to true_north possible witin MF? Or may-be other solutions to get magnetic heading?

Thank you!

Hi

Yes this is possible.... and exactly as you already thought about.

At first.... May you should check the Whiskey Compas Offset ( Magnetic) .
iconQuote:

02CC 8 Whiskey Compass, degrees in ‘double’ floating point format
(FLOAT64)

I´m not sure if this is what you expect aready.
If NOT....

Then your solution is using the "Placeholder" Tool.
With this we can use the "Output" Value of a existing Output Config within formulas.
As you say.... You should bring both raw values into a format you can calculate it together. So for example a Value in Degrees so we can simply say "Valuie of Config1 + Value of Config 2 = Neeed Result.

How to do....
You can just get one Value into the config, that read the other Offset and calculate the result there..... OR you can read both raw values in own Configs and build a final Config ( That itself not read a value) and you did the calculation there. ( The second way is usefull if you still need the 2 raw values for something else.
In Your case the "variation" is not needed somewhere else i think . So i would do it in just 2 Configs.....

Config 1Read Offset 0580 ...... And you use Formulas to get e.g. HDG Degrees.
Config 2 Read 02A0 .... And here you calculate also into a format you can finaly use.
In Config 2 You enabe the first placeholder..... Use there Config 1 as Target and as symbol use "a"
Finaly include "a" into the formula. E.g. Transform : a+(xxxxxxxxxxx) xx= the needed formula to recalculate the variation.

Hope you understand! If not i need to check this myself.
Good Luck !
