first post so apologies if its long or gibberish or if its been answered before, there are so many ways of asking the same question.

Using
Mobiflight 7.10
x plane 11

Gone through the tutorials and got them working to a degree, the parking brake has me confused, as I can toggle to brake to off and see the change in x plane. The brake lever moves, but I cant toggle the brake to on and see the change in xplane, the brake lever doesnt move. I can see the changes in logging debug so I know its working in both directions just not in x plane. Is the how it works or am I looking for something thats not there?

Next problem/confusion I have it encoders and 7 segment displays.

Display shows what its supposed to com1/com1stndby frequency and also changes with the movemnt of mouse wheel but I cannot for the life of me get them to change with an encoder. Encoder is setup under mobiflight using event id as in the example under the documentation tabs, encoder shows its working in the logging debug but has no effect in the x plane or the 7 segment display.

Googled till I,m google eyed and even more confused than I was to start with as there are so many different variations of how to do things, as there are different versions of mobiflight. Like all software the program evolves faster then the documentation can be written, and the internet likes to keeps old things to the front of the queue

I,m convinced my problem is the settings in x plane data in data out, network settings etc. I can see my computers i.p. address under the send portion of x plane but nothing shows up under the receive. Data read Data write tabs have so many options that I may have missed something.

So the question is there, or has anybody an idiots guide to getting mobiflight and x plane to talk to each other.

Welcome to Mobiflight.

Good news at first.... If you be able to set the Parking Brake to OFF by your button you still confirm most of critical questions.....
So you got your Sim connected to Mobiflight already..... Cause if Brake moves if you press your button then there MUST be a connection.

You also say you see in the Mobiflight Logging Mode that there is a reaction if you turn the encoder..... That means also your encoder is hopefully already correctly set.

Summary: Your problem is just the Config
HEre you must understand.... FSUIPC is a "perfect" Software designed to FSX/P3D and now FS2020. For Xplane basicly other Software exist ( alternates to Mobiflight).
We also support Xplane via the XPUIPC PlugIn. But this Software is not official supportet since years.
I will say.... Lots of things ( with own basic programm skills nearly 99%) are possible with Mobiflight. BUT they are a bit different.
For example.... EVENT ID is a feature of FSX/P3D ONLY..... this will NEVER work in Xplane !
Inputs in XP are done via Offset Inputs or Key/Joybutton emulation.
Also some Outputs will not work simmular like in FSX..... Here other formulas and configs are needed.

In easy words.... If you like to run Xplane you need to "learn" a little more as other users !

About the documentation. Yes. Your right. Software grow up faster then the guides. But badly we life in a crazy world. Today subjective 98% of users not read guides. They simply use trial and error and if something not work they call "us" and we should help.
I´m also from a generation who read before act.... But i finaly accept that my time is more profitablel to help users with there requests as spending hours to write guides that only be read by 2%.
